Has any fighter ever overcome such a deficit in height?...

As most of us know, Monson will be giving up a foot to Tim Sylvia... I don't recall any fighter ever overcoming such a set back... I hope he (Monson) wins, but history has shown that an enormous size advantage (particularly in height) can dismantle even the most technically tuned fighter's gameplan (ala Varelens vs Morera, etc.)...

Yes, but Giant Silva is arguably the worst athlete in MMA, and he's about 42 or something...

How much smaller was Keith Hackney compared to Emmanuel Yarborough?

Fujita vs. James Thompson was a height diff as well.

who fought akeibono? ( i butchered name) was it genki sudo as well?

I think he has a chance though. I like to think anyone in the HW division has a "punchers" chance on any given fight. Even the great fedor could be rocked by a single shot by a guy weighing over 205+ its just reality. Sometimes a fighter makes a mistake and gets caught. Good fighters over come it but sometimes the other fighter capitalizes on it and wins.
