Why on earth is Werdum above Hunt?

Hunt has wins over Mirko Crocop, TK, Wanderlei Silva.

Werdum has beaten Tom Erickson, Roman Zenstov, Einemo.

WTF?

Also, Tito over QJ? bwahahahahaha. Before his loss to Shogun Quinton was the legit #2, arguably 3. And now after losing to the #2 guy he's number eight?

Also, Horn is not top ten at 185.

Also, there is NO way Sherk is top ten with a win over Kenflo. Thats the most retarded thing I've ever heard.

IMO you cannot rank someone above someone else that is known to be better, UNLESS they beat that person. It only makes sense. Think about it, put Shogun in against Wanderlei - Shogun gets killed... Put "The # 1 lightheavy weight in the world Chuck Liddell" in against Wanderlei, Chuck gets killed.

I also agree that these rankings favour the UFC. We all know Aleksander would absolutely maime Sylvia, as would hunt or Kharitonov. And Dan Henderson is unstoppable lately, and should not be so far down on that list.

I say send these rankings to wasteland.

You're an uninformed, ignorant and biased fool. First of all, rankings are created because not everyone fights each other, and even if they do, that doesn't necessarily mean they should be ranked higher (aurillo/gomi anyone). MMAth doesn't work. Secondly, your arguments about Wanderlei, Chuck and Shogun are all purely conjecture and not based on any reasonable fact, just stupid Pride nuthuggery. And finally, Henderson is unstoppable lately?!?! Idiot, he just lost less than a month ago, and a victory over Vitor is not what it used to be. The funny thing is, I actually agree with some of the points you make (Henderson should be higher, as should Filho, and Silva with Lindland lower) just not how you make them.

The Heavyweight Division is pretty accurate. The others I would have made a couple of changes.

these rankings are bullshit... masaki at # 4? kang above henderson? sherk #9? i would make my own rankings but 1) it wouldnt make a difference and 2) It would take up too much of my sweet time.

To be honest with you I find it to be quite accurate, everyone is looking at this through MMA Math, they put those rankings together based on recent performances and latest wins/losses. By that system, those rankings are alot more accurate than some of you perceive it to be, whats more ridiculous is some of the rankings you guys are putting out. On top of that, it is impossible to come up with a top 10 in each weight class that everyone will agree with, they are just doing the best job that they can. I guess I will try and break things down.

Heavy Weight Division:
1. Fedor Emelianenko
-Given, no need to argue

2. Mirko CroCop
-He beat Josh Barnett quite convincingly who had a decision win over Minotauro

3. Josh Barnett
-Beat Minotauro, controversial decision, but that is not the point a W is a W which by the way the system is based puts him over Big Nog

4. Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
-Lost to Barnett who recently lost to CroCop thus dropping him below them to 4

5. Tim Sylvia
-As much as most of us dislike him, he has proven to be a force and would match up well with everyone in the top 10 and has more than a decent chance of winning, though this isn't MMA Math. This is possibly the highest we will see Tim Sylvia peak since he cannot fight those above him who are in Pride, the only way he can go up is if any of the top 4 lose to someone low ranking. He has dominated the UFC HW division and he is more than deserving of this spot.

6. Andrei Arlovski
-I somewhat disagree with this ranking, and believe that he and Aleks should be swapped, but it is logical, he was the last person to beat Sylvia who has avenged that loss (x2.. second time was not convincing, its just that AA didn't do enough to warrant a title decision) which places him below AA.

7. Aleksander Emelianenko
-Aleks has been doing well lately and many argue that he should placed above Arlovski and quite possibly Sylvia, but the point is, Aleks hasn't beaten anyone ranked higher than those two to warrant that ranking, so he is stuck in this position as well until he beats any of those ranked above him or any of those ranked above him lose to someone considerably lower than them.

8. Fabricio Werdum
-I guess he is ranked because of that Kimura win over Overeem and his lack of losses to lower competition. Yes Kharitonov beat him but it was by SD and Sergei has lost twice since then, one of those losses were to Overeem who Werdum beat 3 months later. Werdum basically gets this spot by default because he has fought higher competition than those below him and has a decent record to back it up.

9. Mark Hunt
-His only bad loss was in his first MMA fight due to submission I think he is deserving of this spot.. quite possibly should be swapped with Werdum, but 9 fits him well since his only two notable wins (over Wand and Cro Cop) were very controversial. Regradless, he has the wins over top competition and his only loss in almost two years came by the hands of Barnett who is currently ranked #3 which is what caused Hunts rank to drop in the first place.

10. Sergei Kharitonov
-I would love to swap Monson with any of the last 3 ranked heavy weights and put Monson at 10, but regardless of his winstreak, he hasn't beaten anyone noteworthy besides Pe de Pano who is still very green. Kharitonov hasn't won a fight in over a year and I'm surprised he is still ranked, once again he gets this spot by default due to the level of competition he has been facing and has never lost to anyone ranked lower than him.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Light Heavy Weight Division:

1. Chuck Liddell
-I personally am not a big fan of his, but he has proved it time and time again that he is very deadly, he faces alot of top competition but not as good of competition as Shogun has (he also has alot of repeat matches, but thats not his fault). The main reason he is ranked #1 right now instead of #2 under Shogun is that Shogun lost to Coleman.

2. Mauricio "Shogun" Rua
-He has dominated four of the people in the top 10 who are highly regarded, he should arguably be ranked #1 right now since there is no one left for him to face other than Chuck and Wandy (and they won't fight). All he needs to do is avenge the loss from Coleman convincingly (before Coleman retires) and he could quite possibly be moved up to #1, low chance of that happening though since Coleman hasn't been ranked for years.

3. Wanderlei Silva
-Arguably one of the best fighters on the planet, has been on a string of bad luck mainly due to bad game planning, but he is still deserving of this spot even though I personally want to see him ranked #1, but the only way that will happen is if they set up the fight for him and Chuck. Either that or if both Chuck and Shogun lose their next fights. Not much to the logic of this placement though, Shogun has beaten the same level of competition as Wand and has looked better in doing so, and Wand is also coming off a loss and Chuck hasn't lost in years, so by default he gets this spot.

4. Ricardo Arona
-One of the most dominant fighters out there and rarely gets an easy fight, has been in there with the best of the best, but has lost to Shogun and Wand avenged his earlier loss to Arona thus putting Arona at #4

5. Antonio Rogerio Nogueira
-He could be ranked higher, but he can't fight his team mate in Arona, has not fought Wanderlei yet, and has been beaten by Shogun, ranked #5 by default

6. Renato "Babalu" Sobral
-His only losses in over 4 years have come by the hands of Liddell who is currently ranked #1, he has faced tougher competition than Ortiz so like all the other spots have gone so far, he just files into this spot

7. Tito Ortiz
-This spot fits him perfectly, all of his losses have come from people who were ranked in the top 5 or higher. Has been on a win streak lately, not against the best competition out there

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

I think I will stop here because I have a huge headache and I'm about to be late for my classes, and you guys should get the picture right now, they don't make the rankings based on who would beat who, its based on recent performances and wins/losses plain and simple.

The middleweight rankings make sense to me aswell for the most part, I just don't agree with Kang being over Hendo, since they both lost to Misaki and Hendo has beaten better competition, he should be ranked over Kang. (atleast through their system).

Lindland is also an anomalie (sp?), I guess they are basing his ranking on the fact that he is very dominant and that he KTFO Horn which has never been done before.

Matt Lindland was supposed to fight Silva but never did, I'd like to see that happening before putting him n1. Plus my top 3 WW (not in order of preference since they never fought each other)
Anderson Silva, Paulo Filho, Matt Lindland.

Sherk DOES NOT need to be above Gomi
Henderson needs to be higher than #7. Especially since his loss came to Misaki who is on a roll.
Other than that they look right

Hendo is top 5 at the least, putting him at 7 is silly.
Lindland is not number 1.
An argument can be made that Tim is 5, but putting AA at 6 is ridiculous
