Joe has some overrated wrestling, but he's got a great guillotine.

Tibau looked huge compared to Joe Daddy.

Just a bigger head to squeeze with that lethal Gulitine choke Joe has in his arsenal.

Tibau, who's your daddy?

The real story of this fight is:

Omoplata:1
Tibau:0

> ok can we finally admit that the omoplata doesnt work as a finishing move against good comp. Jesus, Tibau had that thing in for a good 2 minutes and still nothing

Tibau wasted all his energy or, to use the Rogan vernacular, blew his wad on the Omo. Then he gassed. Then he got caught in Daddy's sig move.

Memo to UFC Fighters: The Omo always never works. Don't start what you can't finish.

has the omoplata ever been used successfully in a prof mma bout? i'd like to see stevenson focus on his stand up, see what he could really do.

For me, Stevenson looked very uncertain in this bout and was lucky that he isn't headed on a confidence sapping losing streak.

His standup looked worse than I remember it. Against Pellegrino he went pretty much even and Pellegrino certainly has better stand up than Tibau. Tyson Griffin schooled Tibau last time out and Joe didn't seem to show any separation on the feet. Suggests that Griffin would have the measure of Stevenson to me.

I think Stevenson was lacking confidence. He just wasn't letting his hands go and just seemed to be telegraphing an intention to shoot for the take down. As big as Tibau is, he doesn't seem to hit hard or often. Tibau seems to me to be in the same boat as Thiago Tavares, huge guys who seem to lack a killer instinct. They just don't do damage when they get the chance. Tibau is big enough that he is hard to bully to the ground but he just doesn't seem to have skills or purpose.

I hope Stevenson regains confidence and starts to show better striking next time out.
