Nogueira says Couture was slippery with vaseline

MMAWeekly dot com and Front page of mma bay dot com

“In the head triangle I thought I was very (close to finishing him) you know but there was too much Vaseline. I don’t know whether it was from his eye or my eye. It was on the glove from the hit in the face so I couldn’t hold, that was for real man. He escaped good also, he stepped back and start to push.”---Nog

Is anyone else pissed that the art of Jiu-Jitsu is diminishing due to this vaseline. I mean, first BJ Penn couldn't use a high guard on GSP, Tito complains of Forrest and Rashad having too much vaseline when they all fought eachother, and now Nogueira can't choke out Couture? This is getting out of hand. Vaseline is not needed anymore. Who cares about deep cuts? That's part of fighting. The State athletic commission has to fix this vaseline issue fast. By the way, it's important to note that this vaseline in question is from the cutmen right before you enter the octagon. Couture didn't cheat like GSP's Muay Thai coach/cornerman did.

yes because I would like to see every fight ended in the early rounds b/c of cuts...

I can only imagine how often it would happen with those small gloves

your an idiot deep cuts end fighters careers, the fact there was a small amount of vasoline on his glove isnt the only reason that he didnt get the sub,. he also said that randy did a great job in defending it. there are subs on every card, vasoline is a necassery part of the game, get over it

It's also, you know, possible for people to be elusive like Machida or Anderson sometimes. (who hasn't recieved one cut yet in the UFC, and fought 8 or 9 times so far without one cut). If you get a deep cut, it's your own fault. You just have to work around it. A real martial artist finds solutions to problems.
It's also stupid that wearing Gi's isn't allowed.
