Though very good, Randy is probably the most OVERRATED fighter in MMA history. He beat Tim Sylvia and Gonzaga recently at HW. BigNog submitted Sylvia and would destroy Gonzaga if they ever fought. Randy left the UFC so he would keep his reputation intact, instead of getting tapped out to BigNog, the guy he was going to have to face.
BigNog > Randy Couture (and it's not even close)

I can't begin to contradcit you, because I have already clarified what I meant several posts ago, and it is clear you haven't read my justification.
Several people have come up with the same objection in this thread, and I haven't the time to explain myself to everyone. Greatness does not equal skill or ranks, and I explained myself on this earlier. My basis was due to historical accomplishment. Randy is not only not the top P4P HW in the world right now, but he has NEVER been. Skill is NOT part of the equation as a necessary condition, but only contingently.
It is a matter of accomplishment throughout generations of fighting. Randy has been fighting since the 18 year old Vitor Belfort came to the scene as the 'next big thing' and shut it down. Since then, he's conquered titles beyond belief, and has recently defeated the much underated Sylvia and destroyed Gonzaga right after he destroyed the #2-3 HW on the planet at the time, Mirko. He has maintained himself as a contender for longer than any other fighter in history. And the fact that he is doing so in his mid 40's is just staggering.
You people need to read before you counter-argue.

Those are some legitimate losses if you ask me...
So next to Fedor, is Nog #2 HW of all time? Im sure alotta ufc fans here are gunna say couture is #2 all time, although back to back ko losses to chuck and a loss to a younger less experienced barnett...
thoughts..

if nog and randy fought i think randy would beat him, but as it stands right now, nog is #2

Take Randy's tongue out of your ass... the man is 16-8, has been knocked out, submitted and TKO'd in his career.
Nog is 31-4-1, never being submitted, never being KO'd and has held both Pride and UFC HW titles.
Nog > Randy, open your eyes and stop being biased. Just for the simple facts that Nog's record is better, he's held belts in 2 different orgs and has never been knocked out, should put him WELL ahead of Randy on the rankings.
#2 behind Fedor actually, with Barnett right behind them... Tim Sylvia a close 4th with Randy MAYBE #5th

Fedor may have Nogs number, but one can't seriously compare the competition each has fought. Nog by far has fought better HW competition. Werdum, crocop (finished him), heath x3, sergei, barnett (hasn't avoided him), ricco.
Fedor's greatest 2 challenges were crocopp and Nog himself. And unlike Nog, Fedor couldn't finish Semmy or crocop. And though Nog has fought a few underweight competitors and "cans", he in no way fought the amount of circus freaks, has-beens, never-beens, cans, natural MWs and LHWs, and ducked competition in general.

Indeed, the very fact Fedor's own reputation is based on two Nog fights says it all.
Nog's legacy and accomplishments in MMA are absolutely fantastic. Moreso than Fedor, Wanderlei, Randy, Chuck, Dan etc.
