No MMA for Kids???

Here's the article and there's a poll on whether or not kids should be able to train in MMA and compete (like Karate, TKD, Wrestling etc).

No way... someone is going to get hurt. MMA is for men that know what they are doing

If children couldn't watch MMA there would be no Sherdog forums.

I kind of agree. In a controlled environment, where respect and rules are emphasised, it seems okay. It's about keeping check on indiscriminate thuggery and goonery.

I don't know how I made it as a kid - we fought and wrestled and did stupid shit, but I see a lot of plain out-of-control violence out there that needs to be curbed. Plus, most importantly, kids need to keep their marbles unscrambled until they're adults and can make responsible decisions about MMA and anything else.

ive watched the kids pancrase events before and its pretty cool...no punching to the head, the kids dont have quite enough strength to cause alot of damage, but in all id say allow them to train, but leave competing to grappling/wrestling

I think with strict rules it is OK. On a side note i think kids are better served studying one thing and getting really good at it, then when they are older begin crosstraining.

I don't see how allowing kids to compete in MMA (that is, with appropriate precautions and protections) is very different from people allowing their children to compete in Karate/TKD/BJJ/Boxing/Kickboxing/Wrestling matches.
