New Sakikabarra interview (good read)

sorry if this has been posted before...

http://www.pridefc.com/pride2005/ind...s&news_id=1035

excert from interview...

"Plus, the honest feeling of the fans would be like "We don't care who the hell the president is. We just want to see PRIDE as it is!!" I personally want to see a rematch of Mirco and Fedor. Besides, if Mirco becomes a UFC champ and storms into the ring of PRIDE with the belt on, where Fedor is standing and waiting, ready to fight... No doubt their appearance alone will give you goose bumps. In fact, PRIDE Light-Weight Grand Prix on May 20 will be full of top UFC fighters. It will be the best place for deciding who the best lightweight fighter in the world is...."

its a very interesting read!!!

I have read this before. What pisses me off is that Pride already changed. Unified rules and shit and also that Dana is looking to americanize it (he said that in an interview).
Good by old Pride (sorry to see you go) Hello new Pride (is the diffence only the ring between you and UFC?)

Good by old Pride (sorry to see you go) Hello new Pride (is the diffence only the ring between you and UFC?)

People like you are starting to make me sick.

Wait and see before you start crying and cutting your wrists (on second thoughts go do that now!)

Unified rules are a good thing for the LONG TERM future of the sport. Sure in the short term a bunch of morons will cry about odd points but at the end of the day for the MMA to be a legitimate world wide sport there needs to be some form of unified rules. In 5 years no one will care that people aren't getting stomped on and soccer kicked, trust me. So long as they get the rules right (which is, unfortunately, in the hands of the NASC) then it's all good.

As for Pride being "Americanized", i'm pretty sure thats the opposite of whats been said so far. They'd be stupid to cater it for an American market in Japan. Sure things will chance and some things will stay as they are, plus some things will get better.

Just wait and see.

I have said this but I'll said it again.

I cant wait for UFC lightweights to expose those PRIDE overrateeeeeeeeeed LWs.

Hermes Franca is DEFINITELY MUCH > Marcus Aurelio
Heck even Tyson Griffin is DEFINITELY > Gilbert Melendez

I don want to continue...

Unified rules are necessary for the sport to explode even more. What one can argue about is if these have to be UFC rules. I think knees on the ground should be aloved as elbows are.

But some fighters like Arona could really have an advantage from this, Filho too I think.

Ive read this before but its one of the best interviews I have read.

Sakakibara is a good man. FujiTV betrayed him.
