New Ranking System

I started this thread as a branch off of a post that i put earlier.....i started the thread just so i can make sure my ranking system would be posted and viewed by alot of viewers

Im sure everyone has their way of ranking fighters and so forth. Im sure everyone sees all differnt rankings, MMAweekly and so forth and everyone agrees or disagrees. Since they are not offical, its always up for debate. Everyone has opinions and fave fighters, and it sucks because sometimes you put your favorite fighters way up thers just because you like his fighting style and thats jsut bieng bias. The way i would rank fighters is like this:

Judge on Last 5 fights
Strengh of opponent
Fashion of Victory- TKO, KO, Sub, decision
Consecutive Victories
Titles Holding

Not to difficult, its shows us really who is the #1 guy in the weight class

Example

Chuck Liddel:
Loss- Rampage Jackson TKO punches 1:53 1st Round
Win-- Tito Ortiz TKO punches 3:59 1st Round
Win-- Babalu Sobral TKO strikes 1:55 1st round
Win--- Randy Couture KO- punch 1:28 2nd round
Win--- Jermey Horn TKO 2:46 4th round

Rampage-UFC light Heavywiehgt Champion:
Win- Chuck Liddel TKO 1:53 1st round
Win- Eastman KO 3:49 1st round
Win- Lindland Decision
Win- Sik Yoon Decision
Win- Yokoi TKO 4:00 1st round

Shogun:
Win- Alistair Overeem KO-punches 3:37 1st round
Win- Nakamura Decision
Win- Randleman Submission 2:35 1st round
Win- Diabete TKO Stomps 5:29 1st round
Loss - Coleman TKO-Broken arm 0:49 1st round

Dan Henderson:
Win- Wanderlei Silva KO 2:08 3rd round
Win- Vitor Belfort Decision
Loss- Misaki- Decision
Win- Misaki- Decision
Win- Bustamante - decision

Judging by these facts, i would rate the fighters like this:

1. Rampage- 5-0 in his last fights, beat the champ and is current champ, decent strenght of opponents

2. Liddel- 4-1 in his last fights but his strength of opponents has been pretty high and he finishes fights with Ko's. Was the previous champ.

3. Shogun- 4-1 in his last 5 fights, i rank him 3 because his strenght of opponents has not been as tough as liddels.

4. henderson: Granted, he is the current Pride champ by beating Wanderlei....but his last 5 fights have not been impressive, to many decisions on his last five fights. It is difficult on him cuz he did go up and down in weight class. But this is how i would rank him.

So...Another method of making rankings which are still meaningless?

The rankings obsession needs to end. Until we have official org/cross-org rankings, all this is futile.

The only rankings that matter are Org by Org rankings. At least they can be debated as the guys have fought one another and will fight one another.

It can't work. Fedor wouldn't be ranked #1 so it would be against international law to use.

Rankings mean nothing and just because a win is by decision doesn't make it anything less. A lot of MMA fans think a fight that goes to decision mean less even though it is a win just the same.

If you win a close decision then it is debatable, but a dominant decision fight, like GSP-Mayhem, tells more about your opponents toughness then about a lack of skill or finishing skills from the winner.

By your standards yes. And decent standards they are....but...Shogun is #1 because he absolutely obliterated Rampage and would do the same to Chuck.
