Nate Diaz vs JR Assuncao

"Nathan Diaz has signed to fight Junior Assuncao at UFC's fight night in Las Vegas. Assuncao is a 2 time UFC veteran, with his last fight being a win at UFC 70 in April. Diaz is coming off a 4 fight win streak and hopes to make a statement that he will be one of the UFC's top contenders in the 155lbs weight class."

Should be a good fight for Nate to prove he deserved to win TUF 5. I dont thinks its a gimme fight like some of the other TUF winners have had for there first UFC fight but I beleive if he works hard he should win it.

Ya I know but just like I didnt write Nathan in the title to keep it short I was goin to write out Junior so I caould keep the thread title short

Thought they'd give him a debuting fighter, but this seems about right. Solid fighter but nothing out-of-this-world.

I know Junior from Atlanta he is very good at bjj (brown belt, NAGA champ) much more decorated and BETTER at pure grappling than Nate, so I really don't see Nate winning by submission unless Junior stays in his guard and trys to pound. If you want to know what knid of fighter Junior is look up his fight with Dustin Hazlette in Atlanta, Junior had his eye socket broken and Dustin's arm bar on him broke his arm and Junior still got a TKO. His loss was to (amazing grappler and fighter ADCC07!!!) Kurt Pelligrino by RNC in his first UFC apperance. I really don't see Nate winning this fight unless Junior hurts himself beating Nate down al la Manny on TUF finnale. Dana dosen't wont Nate to win in my opinion.
