My Post *UFC 62/Bushido/ Rankings
LHW/MW:
1. Liddell
2. Shogun
3. Silva
4. Arona
5. Rogerio
6. Rampage
7. Nakamura
8. Babalu
9. Ortiz
10. Overeem
In the last two years Shogun and Liddell have decisively beaten 4 top 10 fighters a piece, they are the fighters to beat @ 205, nobody else comes close. I ranked Liddell over Shogun because he beat Randy when he was ranked #2, but as long as those guys are #1 or 2, I could care less. Overeem seems like he's back @ MW so he gets the 10th spot over Griffin.
MW/WW:
1. Franklin (*top 5/top 10 win over Tanner & Loiseau, top 20-ish win over Rivera. No loses in the division in the last two years)
2. Lindland* (*7-1 in the division in the last two years, top 15-20ish wins over Lutter and Joe Dirt. He lost to unranked Terrell. )
3. Marquardt (*top 10 win over Ivan, top 15-20ish win over Misaki & Joe Dirt no loses in the division in two years)
4. Silva (*top 10 win over Horn, Top 15 Leben & Murray + a game Rivera and no loses in the division in the last two years)
5. Misaki (*top 2 win over Henderson, top 20 win over Baroni. 3 loses in the past two years [Marquardt, Hendo, Acacio])
6. Henderson (*top 5-10ish win over Bustamante, top 10-15ish win over Gono, top 20ish win over Misaki + Chonnan [Loss to a unranked (non top 10) Misaki])
7. Kang (*top 10-15ish win over Suolev, 13-0 in the division in the last two years. )
8. Horn (*13-1 in the last two years @ MW, wins over Loiseau, Sonnen, Prangley and Burkman)
9. Filho (*undefeated in the division)
10. Loiseau (*top 10 win over Tanner, two dominating loses to Franklin & Horn)
11. Tanner (*top 10 win over Terrell, top 20-ish wins over Baroni & Lawler. He has losses to Franklin & the Crow. )
I highlighted why I ranked the fighters where I did, there's and asterisk next to Lindland's name because he's now ranked as a LHW and Tanner takes his spot in the top 10.
WW:
1. Matt Hughes
2. Georges St. Pierre
3. B.J. Penn
4. Diego Sanchez
5. Aoki*
6. Karo Paryison
7. Akira Kikuchi
8. Jake Shields
9. Sean Sherk
10. Jon Fitch
11. Hironaka/Koscheck
There's an asterisk next Aoki's name because he's now a LW and Koscheck or Hironoka takes his place.
I don't go back more than 2 years for wins and loses; anything over 2 years for a recent ranking is ridiculous. So Babalu’s win over Shogun means dick, as does Kang’s loss to Miller, Liddell’s loss to Rampage etc etc. I don’t count losses out of the division either, so Shogun loss and Wanderlei’s win in the Open weight Tournament have no bearing on the MW/LHW rankings. These are the significant changes in the weight classes imo.
Discuss.

I actually think for the most part those rankings are decent.
My major gripes are these:
-Anderson Silva should be lower. He beat Horn and Murray over 2 years ago and doesn't have a top notch victory since.
-Marquardt should be lower
-Filho and Kang should be higher.
-Gono should be in the top 10
-Hironaka should be in the top 10 to begin with instead of Fitch. There's no reasoning to have Fitch above him.
I have other minor gripes but there not that big of a deal

Nakamura is ranked to high.
Marquardt as well.
Kang should be higher, same with Filho.
Sean Sherk is a LW and Koscheck is not top 11.
Othervise decent lists..

You can count Silva's wins over Horn and Murray as semi recent, they're not ancient. Leben was a top 15-ish guy when Anderson beat him.
Why should Marquardt be lower? Why should Filho and Kang be higher? Again why should Gono be ranked top 10? Give me reasons eg: who they beat etc.
Hironaka's wins aren't great, you have to go back 4 years to find someone decent he's beat. Fitch's comp & wins lately have been better.

I'd say 2 years and two months is a pretty long time to factor in for rankings. And if its not then you have to factor in his submission loss to journeyman Ryo Chonan.

Why should Marquardt be lower?
|
Marquardt should be lower because he doesn't have enough credible victories to be higher. Ivan Salaverry was not top 10 when Marquardt beat. A couple of semi-decent non-top 10 victories does not vault you into the top 5.

Why should Filho and Kang be higher?
|
Because I don't see how you can rank Misaki over him. Granted he got a decision victory over Hendo, but he also has a loss to Acacio and if you wish to go back, a loss to Marquardt.

Besides Shogun and Hendo, Gono hasn't lost a fight since 2001. Among the opponents he beat during that time are Ivan Salaverry, Crosley Gracie, Daniel Acacio(beat Misaki), and Hector Lombard. This is certainly far better than Loiseau who's only semi-credible win is a cut stoppage over Tanner.(Who was dominating him the entire fight)

How has Fitch's comp and wins been better? His most notable wins are over Josh Burkman( a nobody) and Thiago Alves(another nobody).

sorry but i think that drew fickett is widly over looked for ww i think he could take the 10 spot seeing as how he beat kos. and has a prity decent record. also nate the great is way to hight and filho and kang to low. gono should be ranked now...... the truth the mw division is so close its insane. as well as the ww. the light heavy weights arent really that close. and nakamura is to high he should be ranked 10... but thats just my opinion so i guess your rankings are cool.
