my first pride dvd .....

before i go on i must explain the situation to you... my brother is a big tim sylvia fan cuz our family is from davenport ... so hes always runnin off at the mouth about sylvia and how great he is ... me i see him as a good striker but would get murdered by a great striker with takedown ability ... so anyway for months i have been telling him how great pride is and how he needs to be open to other fighters that may be better .... so last week i go buy a pride dvd i read the back and see it has the mirko/ silva fight and quite a few other interesting matchups .... so you would think im primed and ready to prove him wrong ... so yesterday he comes over with a six pack and we watch the fights ... first thing i notice is the production of the dvd is very weak (doesnt build the excitement up like ufc does ) second bas rutten and (the fight professor ) arent even in the same league as far as announcing fights as rogan and his compadres ... third bob sapp and some fat out of shape japanese guy need to seriuosly consider a different proffesion cause they are terrible fighters ..... then we get to what i thought would be a great fight between ricardo arona and dan henderson .... but the rules and referees in pride made this fight very painful to watch from there constant restarting in the middle of the ring to the referee constantly getting in between them ... i must say i was thouroughly dissapointed i actually just skipped the rest of the fight after the first round cuz i was bored ... so i decide to just go ahead and skip to the cro cop silva fight which my friend who fights in renegades ( dylan godesteanu) said was a great exciting fight ... i dont know which fight he watched but that shit was horrible .. between mirko having absolutely no ground game to silva being very cautious and not really wanting to mix it up with him ( which i have heard is silvas trademark being aggresive and putting on a show ) i was also ththouroghly disgusted with the lack of action and technical fighting skills ....

so in conclusion im not giving up on pride but will be very hesitant in buying a dvd or ppv .. anybody have a suggestion for a pride dvd must buy ?????

if you want to see great hw then get final conflict 2004 it gives a recap of the whole tournament and they had a great lineup of hw's in the tourney

Based on what you've heard vs. which disc you bought, I would suggest doing a bit more research before buying a disc to bet your opinion on.

There are a few threads that have a list of "Best PRIDE discs to own" - and the lists are pretty good, based on what I've seen. I actually started making my disc purchases based on those lists and have not been disappointed, 13 PRIDE discs later.

And I concur that Final Conflict 2003 is a good disc. More expensive than most, but worth it.

i think the lack of the cage makes it a lot less exciting ... what u think?
