Why doesn't he line up the worst case scenarios from both sports? Show some guys with broken arms from MMA next to a pile of corpses and guys with no synaptic connections in their brains

Some boxing tactics seem kinda bullshit to me, I recently watched the Spinks/Karmazin fight, and while I don't dispute the decision, I don't like the tactics used. I mean Spinks's strategy was to stick and move b/c he'd get put the fuck down if he traded with Karmazin at close range. Fine, he was able to cut the ring, but what pissed me off is that there are many occasions where Spinks, rather than using intelligent footwork and moving back, he'd clinch Karmazin and the ref would come in and break it up. I find it so fucking stupid that boxers can move inward to protect themselves via clinch.

Then he finishes the 12th round by moving around and protecting his points...while that's an acceptable tactic in boxing, I personally don't like it. Fighters should attempt to finish fights, it's like the LnP of the boxing world.

But whatever, typical uninformed boxing enthusiast thinking that MMA's a mindless, barbaric, bloodsport.

It's pretty sad that outside MMA-specific media, most everyone who writes about the sport hasn't even done so much research as to read the wikipedia article. If they were writing the paper for High School they'd get a 0, yet these are people who graduated from college with journalism degrees.

"Part of what makes boxing so great is that it has its roots planted in countries all over the world. Mexico, Cuba, Argentina, and so many other countries all have strong amateur programs that produce some of today’s top professionals, and these roots are planted so deep, that the sport will be forever kept alive. "

Russia, Brazil, USA, Canada have all dissapproved that statement

Its retards like this who make me dislike boxing. So many boxing fans (and columnists) who are such closed minded dinosaurs, all they can do is shake their fists at MMA as it passes them by.

Weirdest part to me (apologies if it's been covered- coming late to the thread), is that he cites MMA as having "...little depth." Immediately shows how little he knows about combat in general.

I don't take any offense to it as a fan of "Ultimate Fighting". Bahaha...

This guy probably has mouths to feed and a mortgage to pay. He's grasping for straws and gasping for air. It's funny, but I do kind of feel bad for the guy.

Boxing and MMA are two different sports. Everyone is allowed to like both and there's no need for one to "take over" the other, or whatever.
