That's such bullshit. I always knew Hayashi was a tool, but I never knew why. I always assumed he just had a stick up his ass. That bit about his Dojo ownership explains alot. Not only his business interest, but the general disdain that many TMA's have for MMA.
That really sucks for all you Ontario fans. I always got the impression that MMA was slightly more popular in Canada than in the U.S., what with little Nova Scotia promotions getting 5,000-6,000 people to turn out for its shows, not to mention a sold-out Bell Centre. Am I wrong on this?

I don't think it's about his dojos...
My guess is that Hayashi is in the pocket of boxing promoters. I read an article once alluding to that and it sounds like a pretty legit conspiracy theory.
Toronto would be the number one city in North America for MMA but since you can't have it, Montreal will hold the torch for now.
They did the same thing for porn. They banned production there and Montreal got all of it. Montreal is actually the number 3 city in the world after L.A. and Prague for pron.

That's terrible, but not surprising.
Anyone know if people were charged at the last mma show in Ontario? I heard they were going to start charging fighters, but that may be a rumor.

All the boxing promoters are in Quebec as well.
The Ontario Commission routinely turns down applications to hold boxing cards due to their lack of manpower. Aside from the Steve Molitor "Rumble at Ramas" there haven't been boxing cards of any note in Ontario for a while.
It's a shame as Toronto is a pretty good fight city, Chuvalo-Ali was rocking at Maple Leaf Gardens back in the day.
