More BS Getting MMA in Toronto

Read up folks. Ken Hayashi must be happy with himself.

I know he isn't directly responsible for this latest set back in having MMA coming to Toronto, but I have zero doubt that he was behind the scenes making sure his precious Dojos wouldn't go out of business.

For the uninitiated, Ken Hayashi is Ontario's Athletic Commisioner and is the owner of several Dojos in Toronto. He feels threatened by the growth of MMA, and that his businesses will falter.

Too bad the short sighted mother fucker doesn't realize that it will help his business as MMA helps to promote the Tradional Martial Arts.

Adding further insult is that it sights chokes and other techniques that they deem to be too dangerous. Funny thing is that those chokes come from Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and many other TMAs, yet you can open up a school that teaches all those techniques without a problem.

If this isn't the right forum I apologize, but none of the others seemed to fit the bill and this isn't Wasteland material.

Finally, the MHP expressed the following concern over the safety of OMMAA’s proposed rules:

“We are particularly concerned with submissions through choking, striking on the ground and the use of open-fingered gloves.”

I agree...i was extrmely disappointed not so much in the fact amateur mma was voted against in ontario, but for the reasons they cited. I call B.S. and some dirty behind the scenes charades. I was thinking more along the lines of high ranking boxing officials influencing the decision to disallow amateur mma in ontario, but the ken hayashi angle may be true too

Sorry to hear Ontario MMA fans have to deal with such narrow-minded idiots running their athletic commissions.

Personally I think it would be a conflict of interest if the head of the AC *wanted* MMA in Canada just to give his gyms more business. Why he refuses to allow it is the real question. And how Toronto and Ottawa can pass up the revenue from live shows is another question.

There's no 'may' my friend. I have a source behind the scenes and it's all Hayashi. In fact, the reasons they give are the exact same he spouts off every time he denies the sport.

He has a huge conflict of interest as he owns Dojos around the city.
