More bad press for MMA in the UK.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/scotland/...st/6289042.stm

It really is disappointing to read stuff like this.

Meh, just Scottish higher ups looking to try and make themselves look like wholesome characters, all the while trying to get the blood of dead hookers out the back of their Mercedes.

Condemning the latest 'controversial fad' is how you gain attention. It'll all blow over when the next GTA game comes out.

"The Cage Wars event has been described as barbaric and unwelcome in an area plagued by violence."

Oh man, that's not good

MMA still has a long way to go to being accepted in the mainstream worldwide. Will it ever be fully sanctioned and accepted by popular society? With the current success of the UFC, is this the apex of the sport, or is it going to continue to flourish into social conscience?

There are a lot of inaccuracies in this article. I don't think any one fighter has been paid $1million for a single fight, right?

It's because we haven't got anyone high profile enough putting the other side of it across over here and explaining the intricacies of the sport to people, it doesn't help when certain promotions portray it as two blokes knocking seven shades of shite out of each other rather than focusing on the techniques being used!

For all the grief Dana White gets on here at least he's out there defending and trying to educate people that it's far from being barbaric and its a legitimate sport, I know his motives MAY be of a business interest but at least he's getting positive coverage, something we haven't had enough of over here
