MMA Superbowl doesn't look like it will work...
I understand that there are tons of fights available now that weren't available before, but will ONE super event per year, I just don't see how it will happen smoothly. For instance, what if a fighter is injured and unable to participate in a matchup? Normally, it wouldn't be a huge deal b/c they could just fight at the next PPV, or the one after that.
However, w/ one per year, you have to wait an ENTIRE YEAR just to get the chance to see that matchup again. It just seems as though one per year isn't enough, but a few per year would not fit into the fighter's schedules.
Thoughts?

We'll see if it works out that way. I think there will be cross-promotional fights outside of the so-called SuperBowl of MMA. For instance, Shogun has signed to 4 fights, 2 in PRIDE, 2 in UFC, which makes it seem like they're getting ready for him to fight Chuck or maybe Rampage or Tito in the USA before too long.

i dont think its a big deal. there are so many fights to do you could fill 3-4 cards full of diffferent matchups. i dont tthink if one or two guys are hurt it would make the card suck

of course the logistics is going to take some serious timing acrobatics but it will work. The otoko matsuri (shockwave) was Pride's "superbowl", and they were always able to get exciting fights for that, so they will plan carefully.

There ALWAYS a chance of a fighter being injured. That doesn't matter though because just like you said, the talent pool is so deep, there is a thousand replacement fights. It's guaranteed to be an awesome card, can't wait til new years.

If I understood all the news correctly we will get one super event a year with a full PRIDE vs UFC card. On the other hand it seems as if we will get one crosspromotional fight per card, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less but we will see a lot of interpromotional fights, don't you worry.

chances are, they'll have 1 cross promoted fight in each event or every other event to keep us entertained, then have a Pride x UFC event once a year. That I see would work.
