MMA is like dogfighting!!
Today on the herd a guy e-mailed Colin and asked why he liked mma and not
dog fighting because they are the same thing.Colin fired back and blew the guy
off, but he said he had gotten more e-mails like that. It goes to show there's still
some dumbasses out there that won't give mma a chance. I'm a little suprised though.
I didn't think people would compare it to something like that anymore with all the
exposure its been getting lately.
Some on this forum say that the cage is the reason they think that
way but those kind of people will find any reason to hate on mma. Cage or ring
it doesn't matter to them, if they hate it they're gonna hate it no matter what.
So fuck em!

They're just incredibly ignorant. They obviously wouldn't be able to hold on to that opinion if they actually sat down and listened to someone explain the intricacies of the sport.

The thing I don't get is no one says that Jiu Jitsu, wrestling, Muay Thai, boxing, or judo are illegitimate by themselves, but, when combined, they somehow become illegitimate. Just pure logic rules out most of the bullshit people g on about.

I agree, last time I checked, most of the sports you listed were olympic events,

Dude, I've seen people cringe and be completely turned off when I watch kickboxing, so I just assume that some people are really scared of physical altercations.

Excellent point. There's still a lot of ignorance out there about MMA. Too many people still remember John McCain's "human cockfighting" comment and think it's about two guys trying to kill each other in a cage.
FWIW I'm a registered Republican and wouldn't vote for McCain for many reasons, one of which is his ignorant attitude toward MMA and his slavish praise of boxing while conveniently ignoring its corruption.

Anytime somthing starts getting big it will always have its detractors, i wouldnt worry about it. Anytime you have a chance to educate then do it but yelling at an idiot just makes you look like an idiot

People who raise dogs to fight deserve to be mauled and eaten by those dogs. MMA fighters are willing participants.
