MMA hall of Fame

yes i know this has been done before...

If there were and official MMA hall of fame (which there should be, one governed by a panel of mma writers...) who owuld be in it. Mind you a good reason must be given and the person must be retired.

First we got the old-school

Karl Istaz a.k.a. Karl Gotch- he is the grandfather of it all the original. Although had ties to professional wrestling he is pretty much the inventer of shoot wrestling.

Helio & Carlos Gracie- Invented BJJ...no more explaination necessary

Early MMA stars (stars who are still relatively unknown to most fans...sorry elitist, but revolutionized the sport)

Antonio Inoki
- this man is the father of MMA, plus he faught Ali and broke his legs...badass

Satoru "Tiger Mask" Sayama- was involve in early challenge matches collegue of inoki and founder of shooto

Masakatsu Funaki
- first two time king of pancrase, beat everybody (bas, both shamrocks, mezger)

Akira Maeda-professional wrestler who was a collegue of inoki, started RINGS org. and helped create k-1 hero's Faught Gold Medalist Alexander Karelin.

Rorion Gracie- had many challenge matches brough bjj to the U.S. and the man started the UFC.

Modern Hall-of-fame (retired fighters....bas and ken are done with there careers maybe got 1 more each left in them but they are done)

Royce Gracie- no explanaition necessary was the face of the UFC and help start mma in america

Rickson Gracie- i state that he is not here bc of his record but bc of the impact he has made on MMA he did win all 11 of his documented fights and they were pioneering modern mma (i think people should think objectively about rickson read this-> http://www.defend.net/deluxeforums/s...ad.php?t=12319 )

Bas Rutten- three time king of pancrase, UFC hvwt champ, bas is one of the most recognizable faces in mma and has truly pioneered n the sport.

Ken Shamrock- the first king of pancrase, unforetable rivalries between royce and tito. Truly a pioneer without a doubt of mma . still one of the most recognizable fighters.

Dan Severn- Truly was one of the cornerstones of te early ufc's and demonstrated the wrestlers ability in mma although now of can status, he still was formerly great.

Randy Cotoure- he was captian america, if we can only see another fighter as lion-hearted and tenecious as him agian. Aslo firwst person to hold both hw and lhw titles. plus many notable wins.

Future HOF'ers (still in competition)

Fedor-is god

Wanderlei Silva- has beaten everyone pride could throw at him continues to show greatness in the owgp.

Chuck Liddell- he is the man...beaten everyone the UFC had to offer... little explanation is necessary

Big Nog- if fedor didnt exist he would be the greatest of all time. beats every single contenders only to get his shot at fedor an lose again but still beats everyone and former hvwty champ

Matt Hughes- UFC's most dominant ww ever.

Saku- i think i quote josh gross not sure at alll though "there is everyone else, and then there is sakuraba"

Tito Ortiz- Long reigning UFC lhw champ always a character for the sport very y impressive record.

BJ Penn- was the WW champ, has beaten great fighters of all sizes and fights at pretty much any weight and still finds a way to win.

Norifumi Yamamoto- has become dominant to the point where he is quitting to get a gold medal in wrestling lol!!!

Fringe Fighters (still have something to prove)

Shogun Rua- need a title to cement himself...he is the future though.
CroCop- if he wins the owgp he is def future hof'er but still has something to prove.
Dan Henderson- has shown that he is great another couple of title defenses or if he wins the gp would qualify him as future hof'er
Rich Franklin- If he beats Anderson Silva in a convincing fashion then hes got my vote.
GSP-needs to defeat hughes to solidfy his status

Please add or flame away

Dont think tito deserves to be there just yet, has a lot more to prove before being cemented with the likes of matt hughes.

Half of the guys you mentioned should be in the japanese pro wrestling hall of fame, not in the MMA one.

I don't totally agree with your fighter selection. Damn good job on this thread though, either way.

I think everyone who fought in the first UFC should get inducted into the MMA hall of fame, beside Royce and Ken we may laugh at them, but they walked into something that 99% of the planet didn't comprehend. what a real life fight looks like.

The UFC and MMA has evolved beyond that but they are in some small way honoured that the octagon still exists.

Don't want to fighter bash but most of those guys are a little on the "toolish side" maybe induct them after they pass away. I would hate for matt hughes to have to give his accetence speech right after Ranger Scott gave his.

Also take tito off the list

Japanese pro wrestlers had a hell of a lot to do with the birth of MMA... if you think otherwise you don't know much about the history of the sport.
