Mirko/Wand unfair opinions
I was in a little debate with a fellow Sherdogger in another thread, arguing about Crocops chances against Silva). I believe that the odds are about 70-30 for Mirko. He argued Silva still being the favorite, due to their last fight. And I know that that issue has been tackled to death, with the obvious refutation being that it was one of Mirko's first MMA fights, was afraid of the TD (this was pre- the awsome td defense he now has), thus unable to use his kicks (u need to plant your feet to kick, and u can't do that unless you risk being taken down).
Then it dawned on me- Silva fans are so quick to slit someone's throat if they mention the Tito and Vitor losses (the latter is understandable- tito is still a bad matchup for him imo). However, Crocops loss (there were no judges for the fight) was one of his first fights, AND he has changed waaaay more since that fight that Silva had since his fight with Vitor and Tito- yes, he has improved, but not substantially. And he already had a full fledged MMA career at that point (and bear in mind that the fight finder doesn't include amateur fights).
This isn't a thread about who would win- i really don't wanna discuss that at all. It's been done to death, and will continue to be done till the fight. And it should- this is a fight any true MMA fan should be drooling over, as they are two of the best p4p fighters in the world (I actually consider Silva to be better P4P- not overall though). I only want to know why silva's win over crocop is used in arguments for their upcomming match, but you'll get tarred and feathered if you dare say Vitor would beat Silva again because of their first match.
And don't mention Silva's aggression- that too has a refutation (to quote myself from another thread-
"And please, don't even mention Silva's aggression- yes, it will pose a problem for Mirko. However, it doesn't mean an automatic win. Remember, that's how Sapp and Alexander, among others, got put down, and how Barnett lost to decision. Oh, and how Randleman got choked out"
I just want to know why it's fair to mention silva's win over crocop, and not vitors win over silva.
Thanks (and I apologize for the long post- i have a bad habit of doing that )

Easy answer...Wandy's fans are some of the most rabid, illogical fans I have ever seen. He is an awesome fighter to watch, so his following is well justified. The fans that enjoy his style, their personalities will match. Intense, yet somewhat reckless and unthinking. Most fans of BJJ guys are more logical in their fandom, almost calculating....very much mimicking they style they enjoy watching. There are reasons that fighters gain fandom besides performance and the main one is that fighter matches their personality. It's psychology, really. And its not a cutdown to Wandy or his fans....its just the truth about a lot of things. People like what is amicable to thier own personality traits.

Chuck/Wandy fight will not happen this year because Cro Cop will give Silva a plenty of injuries.

to the Thread starter what you need to realize about Sherdog is that is has nothing to do with being fair, logic, or even common sense people post what they post.

It was ruled a draw, but if u watch the fight Wand clearly, not dominated, but it should have gone down as a win, but thats in the past. As much as I hate to admit it, I think CroCop has the edge when they meet again at the GP, but that doesn't mean Wand can't still win.
