mir/nog

anyone else see this fight going to a decision?i think that mir presents a different type of ground game, due to his versatility and ability to pull submissions off from any position. nog is definitely the favourite however if it turns out to be a straight grappling match i dont see him having an easy victory at all and wudnt be shocked if mir caught him with creative sub early on. the problem with great bjj clashes is the potential for a stalemate, best case scenario we see a war like nog/barnett 1 and 2

If it goes to a decision Nog wins, so i hope it don't.

Mir via submission is my prediction!

Icon2 Big Nog ever lost via sub?

Has Big Nog ever been subbed?? That would be significant, as even Fedor (with all his brutal G&P) did not finish Nog.

^^^^no he hasnt but i dont think he's come up against someone with as great a variety of unorthodox submissions as mir, similar to barnetts catch wrestling style. fedor as great as he is has a submission game based very much around rear naked choke, armbars and kimuras which for nog are easier to anticipate and defend

Stalemate is possible, but dude, Mir is no Barnett.

Nog > Mir striking skills (by far)
Nog > Mir in the cardio department (by far)
Even if their BJJ is even (which I kind of doubt) I do believe it'll be close to a stalemate on the ground...until Mir gasses.

I find it much more likely that Nog keeps it standing (ala Barnett II) drops Mir in the 3rd to a TKO from ground strikes

Nog will just keep it standing and outstrike Mir.

And if this fight goes past round 2 Mir will be totally gassed.

I don't see either guy subbing the other.

PS Nog was not and is not superior to Barnett in striking or cardio, or if so not by much.

overall i agree barnett is the far superior fighter i just meant they have a different type of ground game to most bjj guys, and being of similar size and strength applicable to grappling

not to go MMAth, but think about this;

who has Mir KO'd? Wes Simms (after he couldn't sub him when he had him wrapped up for 3 minutes)
who has Mir subbed? Sylvia, Tank, Jackson (was that his name? with the sweet shoulder lock?), and a couple of other dudes.

Who has Nog fought & beat? A who's who of MMA.

People keep talking about Mir's awesome bjj. I think if they'd watched his fights with the mute button on so they couldn't hear Rogan, he'd have a lot less fans, simply b/c he's had 2 good subs against 2 good guys, and 10 other mediocre fights and/or opponents.

but who am i to judge
