Make the Octagon smaller

-Make the Octagon smaller.

The Octagon is way too big right now and this allows for fighters to constantly back up and circle around each other for an entire fight. This works in favor of counter strikers but also makes fights less exciting and boring to watch. It also gives fighters a chance to turn their back and simply RUN AWAY from their opponent when they are in trouble. We've all seen this happen many times.

The ring is a smaller fighting area and fighters have no room to run away or circle their opponent for 5 minutes. It's constant action. You can only size each other up for so long but eventually you will get tagged because there is no where to run. I realize the Octagon is a UFC trademark and they will never have a ring, but the least they can do is make it smaller in size. I'd like to see how different fights like Arlovski vs. Sylvia 3 and Griffin vs. Ortiz wouldve been if they had less space to back up and stall on the action in stand up.

I've seen KOTC, and it looks like a child-size cage.

Agreed, the Octagon is way too big. It measures about 30 feet across, while the Pride Ring is 20 feet across.

so you have no problem with fighters literally turning their back and RUNNING AWAY from the fight?

you have no problem with boring "slugfests" like sylvia vs. arlovski 3?

You would see people like Tito who use the fence as a weapon get even more wins. You would see more LnP cause it would be soo much easier to take down opponents and hold them there against the fence. Strikers would be even more at a disadvantage with the no kness/stomps to downed opponents rule. Leave it the way it is. Perhaps some sour grapes about Chucks rescent win?

this is a bit off topic too and I know UFC can't do anything about since NSAC makes the rules. but I really wish they could knee and soccer kick on the ground. Ive seen so many times in the UFC where fighters will curl up into a little turtle position when they get knocked down and they make it out of trouble by being in this fetal position. I cant help but think "that guy would be getting kicked in the face in Japan!". Rogan even made a comment like that last night how he wishes UFC could use knees and kicks on the ground.
