Machida vs. Liddell: Why not?
If it's true that Shogun is fighting Forrest now instead of Machida, then why the hell not have a Liddell vs. Machida matchup instead of a bullshit fight against Jardine?
The UFC and Dana said that they were scrambling to find Chuck an opponent after the Wandy deal fell through (again) and that Jardine was the logical choice. What?!?! The same Jardine who just got KO'd by unknown Houston Alexander in his first fight ever in the octagon. That's logical?
If the UFC wantedto give Chuck a real opponent and the fans a real fight they would give him Machida which makes great sence. Since Machida vs. Shogun is off and Chuck vs. Wandy is off, the obvious thing to do is pair up the 2 fighters without opponents! Machida needs and opponent and Liddell is open!
Why Jardine and not Machida? Is the UFC afraid of what might happen? Who wins this fight?

People still dont know Machida. They cant risk Chucks image in losing to an "unknown." At least people (casual fans) know Jardine, so maybe if Keith gets the win, they could better cope with the marketing aspect.

Because Dana wants Chuck to win his next fight.

bottom line is, after that devistating loss to rampage, i dont think dana wants to risk liddell losing again... trust me, machida could probably ko liddell. first of all liddell hasnt faced ANY STRIKERS in his reign as champ, except for of course rampage and we all saw what happened, and its pretty obvious chuck doesnt fair well agianst strikers. he got dropped once by mezger, and had a tough match with overeem until overeem gassed (imo alistair would have won that fight if it werent for his terrible cardio). i think with one more loss to liddell, all his annoying ass fans will understand how overrated he was.. dont get me wrong, chuck did real well against wrestlers/bjj guys though

Chuck Liddell who is considerd one of the best LHW's in the world and #2 in the UFC is fighting a guy not close to cracking the top 10 at all.
That's the question, why is Chuck fighting Jardine? Ridiculous!

Machida may not be top 10, but lets not act like he's some journeyman or something. He's had some big fights, but never a big fight on a big stage. Until then we have to withhold judgment on his true position amongst his peers, because his potential is enourmous..
