A big reason Machida's fights go to UD is that his opponent's are scared of his counter-striking. Tito went for a few shots, but once he was stuffed, he had no way of going on the offensive. Soko tried to stand with Lyoto, but Machida countered, knocked Soko down, and then choked him out. If Lyoto faces opponents who come in guns blazing, like T. Silva probably will, he'll stop them long before 15 minutes.

I absolutely appreciate someone who shows superior strategy, technique, and patience. Machida fights smart and most of the 'under 25 yrs old' fans can't stand watching something if there's no blood or KO's. I'm over 30 and I love the technical or more gentlemanly fighters who I believe are what the sport should always strive to achieve...not just brawlers and street-thugs.

Machida has opened some eyes amongst the fighters. Fighters see him and think, hey that's the SMART way to fight (ex/ Forrest).

It's only the idiot fans who just dont get it that are brushing him off saying he 'runs'.

When Royce was using BJJ to submit people way back, there was the same reaction.

It's just the way it is. Morons will always exist, there's no point in arguing with stupidity.

I dont find Machida boring at all, but thats because Im not a redneck who chants USA! USA! USA! and only watches "Ultimate Fighting" to see someone get knocked out. I understand what he's doing on his feet, just like I understand when a BJJ guy is working on the ground, or when a wrestler is trying to control his opponent.

I certainly don't hate Machida. In fact, I respect him as a fighter. He isn't terribly exciting but there is an artistry to his striking, and if someone can't hit him, then that just speaks of his proficiency.

With all that said, I want him to lose. I was actually rooting for Tito in that fight. Tito.
