If MMA offers more "realism" and "seeing which techniques are superior" as the TS put it, then Machida's style would be the ultimate self-defense. Because if he were in a fight in the real world, people wouldn't pursue him so much. They would get punched or kicked a couple of times and quit chasing him around.

I guess all counterpunchers would be that way.

With Machida, I appreciate the technical aspects of his game, and he is certainly a great fighter. But I wouldn't call him "exciting". I will always enjoy watching him fight, but he doesn't get the adrenaline pumping like more aggressive fighters do.

I would rather see Wand go balls to the wall and get knocked out 5 times to every Machida decision victory.

Then you don't really have any claims to his fights, you have no point. You watch fights for free, you'll get whatever is served up. Machida has no obligations to you.

That last Machida sure proved all the idiots who say he can't finish wrong. It was exciting as well to watch Machida make Thiago look like a club fighter (no disrespect intended towards Silva). I don't think Silva landed a single clean shot/combo on Machida.

That in itself is fucking tremendous to watch, it might not be rock em sock em brawl, but every time Machida fights there's an element of human drama. Watching his opponents realized I'm stuck here with this guy that I can't touch and he's going to keep on hitting me.
