*** Mach Vs Diego!! Mach/Diego fans, let's discuss! Pride's potential death = meh ***
I can't wait to see Randy fight of course, who doesn't, but Mach finally makes his UFC return!
I'm so pumped to see him fight again, he's definitely one of my favs. He's like a little Cro Cop (for those who don't know him), with a much better ground game, or an actual ground game lol. His leg kicks are like baseball bat swings, just brutal.
I'm not a Diego fan, but I do respect his ground game, as he's so damn slippery. He always looks like he's fighting for his life on the floor, always incredibly active. His fight with Diaz is top five for me.
I hope he tries to stand with Mach like he did with Kos. Hayato won't have to cut much for this fight, if at all, making his strikes even more devastating, certainly more dangerous then Kos could ever be. Regardless, Diego/Mach fans, we're in for a treat!
It's looking like Pride could be dead, but with cards like UFC 74, and 75 (featuring some of the best pride fighters), and who knows what else is in store, do you really care?? So long as we keep getting these stacked cards, I won't miss it much.
The Pride we knew is pretty much gone anyways (RIP), besides, paying for every UFC is expensive enough (cheap friends), and it looks like, UFC 72 aside, they are making it worth our $$$. I'm still open to some Pride shows, especially if they include UFC fighters against Pride fighters, on Japanese turf, with patent, over-the-top, Pride production values!
This is such great news!!

Remember Bushido 9? Remember that card? How about Final Conflict 2003? Total Elimination 2005? The Shockwave series? You remember how stacked those cards were? You remember 8-14 fights a card and ppv's showing them all? You remember ppv's with little publicity and no in ring publicity? You remember reasonable prices? You remember soccer kicks, stomps, knees to the head? Do you remember the tournaments which created legends? You remember the extraordinary production values? You remember respectful crowds with actual knowledge of ground fighting? Do you remember the endurance round which gave ground fighters a chance to develop an offensive systematically and technically across some time?
And what about the massive talent that had two cards (Bushido + regular pride) every two months to compete? What happens now that we only have a 7-8 fight UFC every two months? Where will all of these fighters compete? Once every 6 months? Only keep the popular ones? What will happen to guys like Ishida, Buscape and the like?
Oh there's lots to miss.

The UFC needs to maximise as much as possible right now with the monopoly it has right now, can't forsee them ever having things so easy for a long time.

Please don't turn turn this into a Pride vs UFC thing, be fucking happy we're getting some wicked cards.
I love/loved Pride, just as much as any Pride nuthugger, but those fucking Idiots ran their company into the ground. Like I said, I hope we still get some shows, but only if it feels like Pride. If it is dead though, at least we're going to see cards that compare with anything Pride has ever offered, minus the number of matches. At least we have some advanced knowledge of who is fighting on every UFC card.
The not-so-popular fighters can always go to the WEC to make a name for themselves. The UFC is building a great farm system in that org for most weight classes, with the 145lbs one being top notch.
You're right, there is plenty to miss, but there's also plenty to look forward to!!
Now, how about we stop whining about an org that fucked themselves, and focus on a potential great showdown between Mach and Diego!

Exactly what I am worried about. There are so many talented fighters in Pride that UFC may not be interested in at all.

Only those who don't understand the history of that stuff won't miss it, they'll keep sayin "UFC ROX! MAN, FUCK PRIDE!!!!"...unfortunately, it was the greatest 10 years of MMA I've ever come across and it will remain that way until somethin else comes around and proves me other wise...btw, GREAT fights was not just what made Pride what it was, even though it had many, the other things kreli said are just as important....I miss it all so much

If you want to live in the past, then fine, do that.
We're finally getting the matches we've wanted to see for so long, and all you clowns can do is harp on the past.
For better or worse, things are changing in the MMA world, and with cards like UFC 74 and 75, I say the change isn't too bad.
