Lyoto Machida's and Anderson Silva's Stand Up Techique

Every one has said it and I agree. This is the true test for Machida. If he beats Ortis in convincing fashion he will achieve legend status. If he loses he will have been considered way overrated.

I have enjoyed watching his fights and he is definitely a technical fighter. He may not finish his fights but I am not sure I have even seen him lose a round.....

machida doesn't finish his fights usually, and hardly ever knocks people out. tito won't be respecting his power like he would chuck's. therefore he can go for takedowns as much as he likes.

if machida can stay on his feet, then maybe he can stall out a decision ... but ... tito has a good chin, and has superior wrestling.

tito is also a hell of a lot stronger than machida. therefore, machida better keep running to avoid the clinch.

this is one of the worst style matches for machida. expect him to get beat bad enough to look different afterward.

Regarding the Tito fight, it's Titos last fight with the UFC so he doesn't have much to gain while Machida has everything in the world to prove. If he wins this fight, he should without a doubt get a shot for #1 contender status and if he loses no one (including Dana) will believe he can hang with the top LHWs. I'm hoping this fight goes the same way as Silva vs. Henderson and Tito just gets cocky and tries to stand with Machida which could be a possibility because win or lose Tito is only going to gain anything from this fight if he pleases the fans.
