Agreed.

machida is right but he doenst deserve a titleshot yet. Who has he beat??? Even when he beats thiago he still hasnt fought a great fighter.. he has to win one more after that against elite competition. to the guys who say he deserves the titleshot more than rampage who lost his title because of biased judges and won his next fight against an top5 fighter in Wanderlei by knocking him the hell out in the first. I indeed think he should have gotten the instant rematch against forrest "paperchamp" griffin.
Machida has faced more top competition than any other 13-0 fighter in the world right now.

He's beat:
Stephan Bonnar
Rich Franklin
BJ Penn
Sam Greco
Vernon White
Sam Hoger
David Heath
Kazuhiro Nakamura
Sokoudjou
and Tito Ortiz

Nobody in the UFC right now has beaten that kind of competition and big name fighters and not been awarded a title shot.

oh please dont come up with bj penn he is a 155 pounder.. every LHW would whoop that fat ass.
BJ Penn is a dangerous fighter to anyone no matter what weight class, for Light heavyweight there's only the Lyoto fight to tell us how well BJ would do at Light heavyweight but going by that fight he did pretty well at 205 pounds. Lets not forget it was Lyotos 6th fight and beating BJ fucking Penn 6 fights into your career at any weight class is mighty impressive.

Quote:
Tito Ortiz is far from great and not top10 and even if you think bj penn and franklin are great 205 pound fighters those fights are more than 3 years ago.. He hasnt beat a top5 or close to top5 LHW.
Sokoudjou was pretty high up the totem pole when Lyoto beat him, but I'll give you that one, Lyoto hasnt beaten any top 5 fighters. However I'll raise the question who in the light heavyweight division has? I can only think of Forrest Griffin who you refer to as a "paper champion".

Thiago Silva is a pretty great fighter but not a great one yet but then again who in the UFC's lightheavyweight division is a great fighter right now? Shogun who looked awful in his last fight? Wanderlei who is currently 1-3 in his last 4? Chuck Liddell?

How is Wanderlei a top 5 fighter? You bought up that Machida hasn't faced any top competition in Rich Franklin and BJ Penn in 3 years yet other than the Jardine fight its been over 3 years since his last win over a good Light heavyweight fighter in Ricardo Arona and even that was a close fight yet Tito who went to a draw virtually beating the current Light heavyweight champion and actually beating the former light heavyweight champion is far from a great or top 10 fighter? How do your rankings work?

Whoa, most confusing post of the year. I know what you mean though, just a typo. I guess the only person that can be Machida is Lyoto.

Machida will win against Rashad, and deserves a title shot if he wins this upcoming fight.

He will tool Rashad much like he did Tito.

He beat Ortiz, one fight after Ortiz "beat"...oh I mean drew against the UFC's current light heavyweight champion. He looked damn good against Rashad and worked him, and then got worked by Machida right after that and now he's no longer any good? Whatever man. Your living in a fantasy world. Machida is ready.

Griffin-Rampage
No, he wasn't. He was more often backing away than Forrest and mostly didn't manage to do more with his striking than Forrest did so then it's more relevant who actually landed the strikes. Forrest won on striking score and octagon control in at least three rounds. One was decisively to Rampage and the first was controlling the first four minutes vs a last minute knockdown and ground control.

I know the rules so I know it was the right winner. The Sherdog forum is usually a bit shaky on the technicalities though.

I'm not too concerned with who wins the Machida/Silva fight. I'm concerned with either one of those two whippin' Rashads ass. That I'm looking forward to.

Machida deserved a title shot a while ago. I hope he gets it.
