Machida is a defensive minded fighter. Just like in football you have guys like brad johnson or trent dilfer win superbowls based on the strength of their defense. It is a good offense, just not always want the angry mob wants to see.

Machida does have finishing power but thats beside the point. You don't need finishing power to dominate a fighter, just look at most Machidas fights. Do I think Wand, Rampage or Liddel could dominate Penn? I dont know, we'll only find out if they ever thought but Penn did well moving up in weight classes so it wouldnt be surprising if he put up a good fight against them.
