Dana White dismantles the Forest Griffin Bandwagon.
Is it just me or is Dana setting Forrest up to get his ass handed to him. Its great they had Forest fight Tito Jameson but he is not ready to roll with Shogun. Have Forest fight some of the up and coming LHW but don't feed him to Shogun. Dana seems to have recognized the limitations of Forest and see him as a nice welcoming meal to Shogun. Too bad I really like Forest but he is not the same caliber fighter as Shogun but then again not many are!

If he was trying to get Forrest some wins, I don't think this fight would have been made. I think this is just a way to show the casual fans that think Forrest is amazing that Shogun is the real deal. That way, he can get a title shot in his second fight.

He gave Forrest a comeback fight that would have been hard for him to lose in Ramirez.
In this case, they're using Forrest's popularity among casual fans to jumpstart Shogun's MMA career in the US market. What better UFC debut is there for him but a fight he should win against a popular/known fighter? Makes all the sense in the world from a business/marketing angle. I think they recognize Forrest isn't top-shelf. He is what he is, a serviceable/well-rounded LHW who comes to fight, is popular with fans, but probably won't get any higher than top 9-10 in the world if he even gets there.
Even though Griffin is no push-over, this is a showcase fight for Shogun in every sense.

Exactly. Dana is building up the quality of fighters in the UFC using popular TUF fighters as sacrifices. Every Sherdogger should be happy.

Not necessarily. Just to correct you, remember that Forrest was originally slated to fight Machida at UFC 70, which is what freed up Griffin to fight Ramirez for 72. So this "dismantling of Griffin's bandwagon" has been several UFC's in the making.

It's a showcase for Shogun but I don't think it'll hurt Forrest all that much if he takes the loss. As long as he puts up a good competitive fight his career remains relatively unscathed. It was the Jardine match that hurt Forrest much more. Getting blown out of the water by a guy you probably should have beat easily is much worse than losing to a guy who's arguably the #1 in the division.
In that sense the stakes are perfectly acceptable for Forrest, not a whole lot to lose and plenty to gain if he pulls an upset.
