Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett
Koscheck vs. Dustin Hazelett
One could argue that this fight is a gimmie for Koscheck. I’ve got to swallow what I use to believe and state Koscheck is a serious force in the welterweight division. No real question that Koscheck will get this fight to the ground if he chooses. What I wonder is how will Hazelett striking hold up against Koscheck. Hazelett looks to be over matched, but this guy has some really slick submission. I realize though GSP and Jeff Joslin weren’t able to have any success with submission, Koscheck is just really that strong.
The thing is though Koscheck striking is so good now that he might choose just to stand and I don’t know if Hazelett can handle Koscheck stand-up. I am interested because if the fight goes to the ground Hazelett will have much better chance with Koscheck. I’ve been really impressed with Hazelett, but Koscheck is a real handful. Overall, though it looks pretty grim for Hazelett, but I wouldn’t count him out! Names are made with fights such as this! It is a giant opportunity for Hazelett it is fights like this one gets to really test themselves and I really will be interested in seeing what Hazelett’s game plan will be. He is an intelligent fighter that has the fight of his career ahead of him.
Thoughts!?? Comments!??

I really think Kos's hands are very overrated however, I see him winning a decent fight by decision...

Hazelett is great at juijitsu, and is on a little tear. But Koscheck's defense is really good.
I bet Koscheck lays on him for 3 rounds.

yea I agree I think that's the way the fight will most likely go. Kos won't take any chances...

I'll be interested to see Koscheck's striking in this fight.
He might want to keep it on the feet. Hazelett's guard is real slick and he's a lanky guy. Could present problems for Koscheck. I know Joslin is a BJJ BB with a real active guard and he didn't accomplish a whole lot other than protecting himself from the bottom (came reasonably close to a triangle once), but I've seen Hazelett more successful with submissions in MMA than Joslin. Either way, we should get a better idea of where Koscheck's game is at. Striking and sub-defense.

Fully agree! Hazelett is really slick the Goulet fight impressed me. He transitions very well from Kimura to armbar!

After seeing the skill that I have so far from Hazelett, I went ahead and put some money on him for this match. He's a HUGE underdog. Risking $20 but could win $70... I feel like hazelett wins via RNC (or at least I hope so).
