Kimbo could do serious long term damage to MMA..heres how
I'll keep it as short as possible.
If the UFC sells out to short term gain with Kimbo, it could seriously damage the sport longterm(and some of the good Dana and UFC have done already). If enough morons who actually take Kimbo seriously(looking at the ratings, theres a few) start to make a lasting connection between Kimbo and MMA, and actually forget to seperate the two, Kimbo could turn MMA into a joke(compared to something like boxing). When the people who are watching mostly for Kimbo realize that Kimbo is actually kind of a joke in the world of MMA, their going to say things like, "any HW boxer could beat this guy easy", and, "I was watching the UFC because Kimbo was fighting but that stuff was a joke, he got beat easy". Now Kimbo means absolutely nothing to me(he seems like a decent guy)and my opinion of MMA will not change because of him. But dont you feel bad for the people that might really get into MMA because of Kimbo? I really dont think those people will stay MMA fans for very long. And after some casual fan idiot jumps on the bandwagon because of Kimbo, and has to jump off real quick because Kimbo loses in a bad way, well, that person might be gone for good from the sport. So be careful UFC.
To sum it up, the UFC has come WAAAY to far to sacrifice very much at all for a little short-term gain.
