I just don't understand why refs stop fights in that situation. KenFlo was mostly hitting arms and elbows and the occasional cheek of Joe Lauson when mounted. It's like stopping the fight because someone can't escape from someone hanging on to his back and trying to land a rear naked choke.
Imagine the Sotiropoulos-Mitichyan fight being stopped because Roman was putting himself in a bad position to get choked. Insanity! If you keep your hands up and move enough to avoid damage, you should get enough credit to ride it out. I'd imagine a fighter's response to the ref should really be something like STFU!

on topic:
the last one had nothing on it at all, and joe was covered up. I dont even think kenny was looking right at joe when it was thrown, it was just the last one of 100 to come down.

It may have been justice for his shit talking, although his shit talking was pretty tame.

It was a good stoppage. Notice Joe stayed on the mat for a while and was blinking his eyes like he wasn't seeing straight.

That doesn't show the whole story. He could likely be hurt but the ref couldn't judge it since he was blocking most of his shots and continued to do so. There could also be something like exhaustion and dissapointment that could lead to a fighter just staying a while on the mat.
