i read a thread before sayin that ken has never accomplished anything and the pancrase doesn't count, well if thats the case is rutten the same and considering rutten has lost to shamrock on both occasion. not to bash on rutten he is a sick fighter but people need to stop talkin so much smack about how shamrock has not accomplished anything .

Ken can fight..But it seems when he went to the UFC, he forgot his ground game. Ken needs to use that skill more.

The guy was the first American wrestler then incorporated submissions during UFC bare knuckle fights, not many guys have built up their name from fighting like Shamrock, People who dont even watch UFC still recognize the name Ken Shamrock, Win or lose he fought many top level competition and needs to fight guys more his age. Your telling me people wont go nuts if he has a another fight with Royce Gracie and if he wins, which I feel he has a chance.

People don't like Ken on here, so everything he did is null, including beating Bas twice, being the first King of Pancrase, and defending his title. However, since people like Bas, him accomplishing the same things are commendable simply because his name is not Ken Shamrock.

Depends who you ask. The Superfight Championship and Heavyweight Championships just symbolize two different eras of the sport, and while they have the same lineage, whether or not they count Shamrock depends on their bias.
If you ask someone who likes Ken, they will say he was the Heavyweight champion. However, if you ask someone who does not like Ken, they will say he was never a champion of anything.

When it comes to Ken, double standards run rampant, so you have to make up your own mind about him.

It's just that 95% of people here are mindless sheep who don't know the sport and instead simply follow the most popular trends and bandwagons. Right now it's the in-thing to hate on Ken due to his negative portrayal on TUF3 and the fact that he can get pretty worked up/emotional and say the wrong things now and then. Big deal, Leben started out in the big time the same way.

It's funny how Royce came out to fight a great current UFC fighter, got his ass whipped, and left with a lot of respect. Ken comes in and does the same thing, and gets the opposite reaction. Both guys have done an incredible amount in the early days of the sport. They even fought each other. To see one get praised and the other get booed simply due to fan ignorance is sad.

Bas is similar in accomplishments, but ended up out of competition just a few years early ... and unfortunately he was set to be a new pioneer in Pride at the time and would have gotten even bigger. In my mind all 3 of those guys are or were at a similar skill/accomplishment level in the ring in varying ways during their heydays. Unfortunately these days they are all basically out of the ring and on the road and TV, making it more a personality contest among the ignorant.
