Kampman vs Franklin

Since this fight has been rumoured (announced?) does anyone else think that Kampman is seriously in a for a world of hurt in this match up? Watching his last two fights, I'll admit he's a very technical striker, but he doesn't throw the hardest shots, and his ground game is acceptable, but not world class, and he looks like a rather small middleweight. I really don't see him having much of a chance against Rich.

I honestly think this fight looks like a warmup for Rich for his rematch against Anderson (in that he and Kampman are both technical strikers, both fairly lanky guys at MW). Anyone else think Kampman is getting fed to Rich here?

I believe this match is being set up for Franklin to win and Kampman to go down to 170. I wont put anything past Kampman especially with whats been going on the last year.

Kampman discussed dropping to WW if his size becomes a problem in his last post fight interview. He just picked a fight with arguebly the biggest MW in the division. The odds say Franklin knocks him all the way down to WW.

I'm just thinking to his fight with Leites, he was eating a lot of shots and giving a lot. If it goes that way with Franklin I see Kampman getting fucked up big time.

this be a good fight for both. its just that kampmans punches are not powerful enough to hurt franklin. maybe a submission though.

Franklin is so much bigger than Kampmann. If it happens, I see Franklin TKO'n Kampmann.

100% agree. He was getting hurt by McFrederies and he looks to me like he should easily make 170. It's just like the Jason MacDonald, they're pretty sure they've got a guy on a bit of a run and they're gonna use him to make Franklin look like a legit challenger again.

And on the flipside - if he does beat Franklin, they've still got themselves a hot prospect to keep on a run.

This has been good booking on their part with Franklin. They're putting him with guys who are gonna make him look good at what he does, appear to be a dangerous fight for him to most people but in the end he's probably got a good shot to win. PRIDE and UFC have been guilty of really hyping guys up lately and not giving the other guy any press and then getting their pants pulled down when they get dealt the upset (i.e. Hendo-Silva, Soko-LilNog/Arona).
