I understand your explanation, but a wise man once told me that "if your explaining, your losing", and that is the case here as well. I think you would even agree that in retrospect, you should have taken another approach.

You probably would have been better off stopping the fight due to the injury instead of executing 15 minutes of defense. You lose the fight either way, but at least your reputation is not completely torn down.

I know that's easy to say after the fact.

I was in Montreal the night of th fight and I can say as a fan, I was pretty disappointed with the way the crowd reacted to the fight. Sure it wasn't the best fight in the world, but I've seen a lot worse fights that never got the same reaction. These guys put their life/career on the line every time they step into the cage/ring and that is quite an accomplishment by itself so a little respect should be awarded.

Personally, I think both fighters should have put on a better performance. It should have been no surprise to Kalib that Nate hits so hard. His wins are usually highlight reel knockouts, so next time I would suggest Kalib come in with a better game plan. And Nate's antics in the end were probably not necessary, although they were funny, and most likely saved his UFC contract so you can't really blame him.

You can't really blame Dana either for doing what he did. He made the right call letting Kalib go as all the negative press regarding the fight surely is not helpful for the UFC. As an owner of a company, you have to look out for what's in the ORG's best interests.

In any case, good luck Kalib with the rest of your fighting career. I'm sure you will redeem yourself to your fans, and perhaps even get some new ones.

It's performances like this that make you appreciate guys like Wanderlei Silva EVEN MORE. Puts his heart into it then asks Dana White backstage if he put on a good show, because he cares for the fans.
