I am bummed that I am coming into this thread 51 pages in instead of in the beginning. You are a fighter who is paid to fight. So your whole training and game plan was thrown out the window in the first 30 seconds? Did you have a Plan B? Did you train to be dominated or did you only train your game plan and think it would be 100% effective? I heard you were kicked out of ATT, don't know if that is true but if that is seriously how you train for a fight, you need a new camp that knows how to train. Overall, it was a pathetic showing. There were some great undercard fights and people would have loved to see them instead of you backpedalling. The only thing that made the fight worth watching was Quarry taunting you and his Rocky IV comments at the end!

Kalib, thanks for coming on here and posting.

However, your description of how the fight played out to someone who hasn't seen it is horribly inaccurate.

You claim that you were outclassed and simply moved out of the way to avoid getting KO'd, much to the dismay of brain dead fans calling for blood. That makes sense, its your job to avoid getting knocked out and to beat your opponent.

However Kalib, you and I both know that what you call "avoiding being knocked out" really surmounted to running away from your opponent so he could not fight you.

I am also very displeased with the attitude by which you write your response. Specifically I'm referring to the sentiment that he was a better striker than you and you couldn't take him down, so what were you suppose to do, get KO'd? Kalib... That logic makes me cringe. If you fight someone who is better than you... you still fight Mr. Starnes. You may respond that you did so continue to fight, hence the decision, but that would be a lie. You ran away from your opponent, and you ran away from your job (yes, you are a fighter, that entails actually fighting, even against the guys that are stronger and better than you).

I'm not posting this because I'm a rude guy who attacks fighters. I'm posting this because I read your statement and had to object. I had to let it be known that those remarks are not ok and are not representative of the fight itself. Furthermore I hope that everyone who competes or hopes to compete has the opposite mindframe of yourself. Not that they should go and get knocked out, but when they come across an opponent who is stronger and better than them, that they don't just think up ways to avoid their opponent, but rather they fight their opponent and try to win despite the opposition being better. I would rather see losing efforts of fighters fighting, than losing efforts of the already defeated running out the clock, sprinting and cowering on their way to a loss they have already accepted.

I'm actually defending Kalib from this ignoramus. He has no right to talk shit about him. Kalib said it like it is, and lost his UFC contract.

I have always thought that Kalib was a talented fighter. He has serious jits skills. And he's athletic. He's also a pretty cool guy. I met him at Pride The Real Deal in Vegas and he was very cool.

I admire any pro fighter. And having trained for a long time now and sparred with many people, I know what it feels like to fight someone that is completely better than you. Kalib's explanation of his performance makes a lot of sense. When you're getting beaten in every area of the fight, it's not really a smart decision to let everything go, for the sole purpose of getting a lucky finish. Sure, you win over the fans, but it's very risky.

The fight game is dangerous. But you can compound that reality by fighting stupid.

Kalib claimed to be outmached against a very solid Quarry. And the fight proved as much. If the UFC's reasons for dropping Kalib from their roster are because they don't think he's talented enough to fight in their organization, then that's their prerogative.

I can also understand why so many MMA fans are so angry with Kalib's performance. Many fans will only respect a fighter if they perform up to their personal ideals. Again, that's the individual fans right. But the reality is, most fans don't have a clue about what they're talking about in terms of MMA.

I support Kalib Starnes. But Quarry isn't even top of the food chain, so Starnes has a lot of work to do if he wants to be a champion one day.

You make such decisions and agree to be on the main card of the hottest "non-traditional" country sport in north America, you can't perform like that and not expect to get fired.

Take a look at other guys in the sport who have been in wars with another guy in the ring/"octagon"...this one was NOTHING in comparison to some of the lesser bad shit that has happened.
