[quote=dgreener;22710088]Thanks for coming on Kalib. It takes courage to put yourself in front of the throngs and take whatever they throw at you. I saw the fight and even with your explanation i don't understand what you were doing. If you were so badly injured, then you should have not come out for the third and even more so, if you were so injured, it did not look like it the way you were managing to stay out of reach of Quarry. Your ropadope would make Ali proud. Secondly, you didn't look like you believed you could win the fight, like you were a beaten man. Even if you thought he would knock you out, it is a ridiculous position to take as a fighter. surely you have seen worse matchups than the one between you and Nate and the overmatched opponent doesn't decide for himself that he can no longer win and sometimes he actually beats the more highly trained or prepared fighter. We have all seen huge upsets like Crocop getting knocked out by high kick by Gonzaga. Should Gonzaga have danced because he didn't think he could stand with Crocop. If you didn't believe in yourself, you shouldn't have walked into the ring and as soon as you stopped believing it, you should have left because one punch is all it really takes and you didn't give yourself that chance, and in so doing, robbed the fans of that chance as well. You could have knocked Nate out...if you tried, but a fighter that decides the outcome before the clock is either stupid or a coward, and really it boils down to cowardice. Like Bo Cantrell vs. Kimbo, he basically started heading for the canvas before Kimbo even took a swing at him. What a ripoff. You also started heading for the track as soon as you felt you could no longer win. Never decide that for yourself because your opponent could make a mistake or could be hurt himself. So you just don't have either that right or the ability to decide the contest before time expires.

you are an idiot.

gonzaga took crocop down first then proceeded to elbow the shit out of crocops face and then crocop was pretty much out on his feet and then gonzaga kicked him. he didnt stand and trade.

anyway if hes injured, wouldnt he be considered a bitch if he did quit? but no he didnt quit so i would think that would take a lot of courage. anyways when you realize in the ring that you cant do anything to a guy thats a pretty scary thought and to keep going would be cool in my book

A

if that was his all, okay I accept that, but I do not believe it was

as a main event fighter on Canada's biggest MMA card you have an obligation to leave it all in the ring, win, lose or draw you will be respected

thats my take but that said, Kalib is great fighter and is measured by more than this one performance

If you were injured, why not just throw in the towel and end the fight at the end of round 1? Why waste your time, and the fans' time and money by just running away for two rounds? Did you honestly think that you could get a win by running away for two more rounds? Or did you think you were doing the fans a favor by it? The truth is that you were pissed off at Dana, and you were only thinking about putting in a shitty performance so that you can "stick it to him" although all you've done is ruin your career.

The Bottom line is all that crap you just said is an excuse. All that worthless typing and it still does not put the 50 dollars my roommates and I paid for that UFC. Luckily your fight wasnt the only one on the card and earnings for ten hours of manual labor was not simply flushed down the toilet.

1. I tune in to the UFC to see exciting MMA action. Watching three blindfolded deaf guys playing marco-polo would have been more exciting than the fight you put on. YOu could have tried a takedown, did the cha-cha slide, bit him on the ankle and gotten disqualified, or even taken off your fight shorts put them on your head and ran around the octagon singing the canadian national anthem. All those would have been satisfactory. Anything would have been better than what you did.

2. I do agree with you. Getting hit does suck. Its no fun. I don't like it. You obviously don't like it. But thats why I don't fight. Maybe you should follow my lead and sit at home and watch MMA on TV and just let the professionals do their job.

3. Your foot was broken. Ok. That sucks. How can you fight with a broke foot? You cant. I broke my leg playing football one time. YOu know what I did. I was carried to the sideline, put some ice on it, cried a little, then went to the hospital. I didn't try to walk it off and run from the other team so i wouldn't get even more banged up. I threw in the towel. You could have ended the fight after the first round instead of making me sit through ten more minutes of you backpedalling and throwing ineffective counter punches. But you didn't. Forest Griffin had his arm broke in a fight, but he came back to knock out his opponent. Actually several other fighters have gotten hurt and kept fighting, some win, some lose. Maybe because its cause they want to put on a good show OR, this might be crazy, but that they actually LIKE to fight. But Hey there are fighters who throw in the towel early, I mean Cung Lee broke Frank Shamrocks arm. He didn't even have to stand on it and decided he couldn't go on. I hated to see it end like that but what else could he do? Run from Lee for 2 more rounds and make MMA fans everywhere hate him for wasting 10 minutes of their lives. I think not.

4. I hope you do have other organizations offering you lots more money. Because after your last fight, You couldn't pay me to come watch you fight. Not even if it was in my high school gymnasium, and I got to witness you smash my ex girlfriends teeth in the back of her throat. I actually don't think anyone will pay to see you fight again, Unless they are on the brink of suicide and need that one last thing to just push them over the edge.

Mr. Starnes, please retract all of the excuses you gave and just admit that you made a mistake by becoming a fighter and that you will never ever fight in public again.

like you never have a shitty day at mcdonalds and underperform when you're making big macs? i mean, when i go to mcdonalds, i expect three pickles on my burger. i paid like $3.00 for this thing, there's no reason some asshole that's having a shitty day at work can't give me my three pickles! right?

all explanations aside, it was what it was. As a fan, i always prefer to see a fighter engage and risk losing for a shot at winning. Verbal submission due to injury is also a respectable option, in my opinion...

my 2 cents. thanks for clearing up that it wasnt some dickheaded protest... your fight was one i had been looking forward to that evening since you were as close to a hometown fighter on the card for us on the island.

Funny how quickly everyone changes their mind once a fighter retaliates on here.

Good on you Kalib for at least acknowledging that it was a poor performance. You didn't want to get knocked out - that's understandable. But from a spectators point of view, it really isn't good enough. The mentality for the level of competition your competing at (or were competing at) was, as brutal as it sounds, 'finish or be finished.' The fans expect it, the boss expects it, and your competitors expect it.

Backing up for the whole fight simply because you didn't want to get KO'd is no excuse. This is top of the pack MMA, if you felt you couldn't trade with him, try and clinch. If he out works you in the clinch, try and take him down. Do something. Do anything. If worse comes to worse, and you can't put up any offence (like you claim you couldn't due to your injuries), then tap. Do anything other than run. Its far more dishonourable than tapping.

You also can't lash out at anyone; your opponent, his team, the fans, and especially not the boss (believe me, I'm the last one around here who likes to justify Dana's actions). The mistake you made to quit - but not physically quit - did not only make you look stupid, it made your boss look stupider. This is the guy that makes money off your performance and in return pays you. If you run from your opponent in front of millions of people for 15 minutes, your not marketing his business very well.

And in regards to you claiming you did not put on this performance because you were boycotting the pay, I'm pretty sure everyone believes you on this. No need to bring the pay issue up, it only perpetuates the throw-in idea. And no offence, but considering the performance you've just come off, your in no position to bring up poor pay issues. It seems like the UFC's pay for fighters is definately something that needs to be rectified, but at a different time by different people.

Anyway, good luck with your career. With the attention span of the casual MMA fan around here, having a few stellar wins in another show will forfiet any of this 'running man' memory.
