Just because you aren't a fighter doesn't mean you can't recognize a terrible performance. This was a bad performance, and fans have the right to voice their disgust. I'll agree people saying "omg you pussy, you fucking suck cock!" and shit like that are retards, but I damn well have the right to say "that performance was so bad that I'm not a fan, nor will I ever be".

Professional athletes are professional athletes for a reason. They are tougher than us, braver than us, more skilled than us, and all around more badass than us. If they fail to live up to this standard, then they are no longer deserving of this.

All that said, I don't want to start flaming anyone, and don't want to cross the line into bashing. I still think it's cool Starnes came in here to offer his explanation amidst all the hate. I still think he's a skilled fighter, and has the potential to go places. I'm just not a fan after that performance, and believe someone who is in the ufc should perform much better. I've gotten my ass kicked plenty of times in my life, and never ran away. And I wasn't getting payed and being watched by thousand and thousand of people during it, either.

Thanks Kalib, Glad to hear your explanation. I think the hyped up Canadian crowd didn't help the whole situation. Either way, respect to you for fighting and coming on here to explain your side. Makes sense to me. I was in Montreal for UFC 83 and although I paid a lot of money to sit cageside I am not going to whine for some money back like some people who bought the pay per view for $50 and feel ripped off. Fact is sometimes fights are not exciting. Not every fight can be a Griffin/Bonnar I. Funny how quickly keyboard warriors get on someone who loses. People forget you actually did get a couple of wins in the UFC. Good luck in the rest of your MMA career. Peace.

I've always appreciated how you log in to discuss behind the scenes matters. In this matter as well, I appreciate your candor.

That said, from the standpoint of fighters marketing themselves, you just have to engage. It can't be explained away. Like you said, in every fight there's a loser, but the loser has still got to fight or they won't get invited back.

There's a reason that most people aren't professional fighters. Most lack the killer instinct, will to dominate, perseverance in training and toughness at the actual fight. The fact that such humans exist makes for the 'spectacle' that draws fans. Tim wanted to keep fighting after Mir broke his arm. Vera broke his hand, but kept fighting Tim by throwing elbows. Couture won a gritty bout with Gonzaga after having his arm broken.

No, I don't advocate people harming themselves on the whole, but MMA is not the regular world. Guts and glory. And, alternatively, there's such thing as doctor stoppage and throwing in the towel.

As for your points above, they are beyond retarded.

1. He survived only by NOT FIGHTING. He wasted everybody's time when Kaleb himself stated that by the 2nd round he knew he couldn't take him down, couldn't hang in the clinch, and couldn't strike with him, and had a broken foot. That screams outclassed to me. The proper thing to do in that situation would be to concede the fight, verbally submit, or at the very least quit on the stool after the second due to injury and save us all from another round of non-fighting. The third round was totally pointless and a complete waste of airtime. This sport is not about surviving to the final bell and if Kaleb thinks that, he should seriously consider a career change.

2. Nate didn't find easy prey? Do you understand what a 30-24 score means? The only reason he didn't knock him out was that Kaleb ran, ran and ran some more. That's what people with broken spirits do, and the ref should have called at least two timeouts to reprimand him and deduct points for timidity and avoiding contact. Why on earth he didn't I have no idea, since the timidity clause was tailor-made for a fight like that.

Another thing: Kaleb says he's already found a promoter willing to pay him more than Zuffa did. If it's true and I seriously doubt it, cool for him. I know I won't be watching and I doubt many others will.
