I am honestly surprised that someone would hire you after that performance, and I don't buy your story. You seem like an intelligent guy who would know that tentatively circling for 3 rounds would lose him the fight and that fights that boring would probaly lose your job. You repeatedly admit how you could not trade with Nate and did not want to wrestle him so I don't understand why you were even in there. Why not tap in the first round and let the rest of u watch an under card fight. I watched you fight Leban who I think has power in his punches and you fought well and won so I guess I don’t understand your sudden fear of getting hit came from. I suspect that you have either become afraid of the sport, maybe after that loss to Belcher, which I guess is understandable given its nature of the sport, or that there is something else going on here that the rest of us don’t know and that you are trying to hide. If you were hurt you should have given up like McCarthy did, and if you just ran away for 15 minuets because you thought you could not beat Nate then you are a coward and probably in the wrong sport. Any one who has boxed, kick boxed, done mma or most other martial arts know that there is a risk in getting hit, you knew the risks so the I don’t want to get hurt so I ran excuse seems weak. I for one will not pay to watch you fight again because I watch mma for its entertainment value and a man back pedaling is not my idea of entertainment. Finally I think your little speech about fighter’s salaries sounds like sour grapes, the ufc offers contracts and you sign them, I bet you have an agent and/or a lawyer who explains the terms to you and other fighters so these complaints seem irrational to me, fighters should know what they are getting into.

Respect for Kalib for stepping up and posting something on Sherdog. This forum can be rough. I guess he came to fight here.

Also respect for those who aren't sucking up to him just because he's a fighter. There weren't nearly as many supporters last week when they weren't talking him avatar-to-avatar.

Fact is Kalib can come up with a thousand excuses as to why he ran a marathon on the PayPerView. And they can be legit or questionable. But in any case, there were better alternatives to running for 2 1/2 rounds and wasting everyone's money and time and THAT'S why people are pissed.

If his foot was broken, he could have thrown in the towel and said "My foot is broken." Instead of running on that broken foot. McCarthy did it when his arm broke, and while there were questions as to why he let his arm get broken instead of trying to hit back, no one questions his stopping after it broke. And right now, even though he retired, there really aren't nearly as many haters on McCarthy right now because he didn't waste our time. He was done, so he said "I'm done." I don't feel like I need to thank him for that, because that reaction was so obvious.

OR alternately, maybe Kalib could have fought. You know, others have fought with broken bones before. Cro Cop with a rib injury that I am sure was much more painful, went for another round and attempted to win. Randy Couture with a broken arm beat GG. Forrest Griffin has fought with a broken arm and won, etc. etc. The examples are endless. So Kalib didn't want to get knocked out. Getting knocked out sucks, but maybe he wouldn't have. Maybe he would have won. I think its fair to question his heart for not at least trying to fight back. But maybe it's unfair to compare him to fighters of the above caliber and passion. I don't know.

The point is, injury or not there were alternatives to running around for 2 1/2 rounds that would not have wasted peoples' time and money and that's why people are angry. And I think they have a right to be.

Back-pedalling worjed well in your eyes? losing 30-24 is a good performance to you? The only way he succeeded was not getting ktfo but he was completely outclassed and bullied for 15 minutes.

I equate spirit to heart and guts which he difinitely has but he did not show it at all in this fight. I guess running circles in the Octagon for 3 rounds with a bad wheel takes some "spirit".

I hope his career was not hurt too bad by this performance cause Kalib does have some very good skills and he should be able to rebound from it.

Get real dude.. I pity the fact your being criticized so badly you have to come here, but here are the real facts:
You are definitely NOT the first fighter to get hurt in a fight and you will definitely NOT be the last... The difference is, you should have kept coming forward or thrown the towel in between rounds...
