Why not just throw in the towel ?.
Theres no shame in that if its a bad injury many of my favourite fighters have had to do it and i respect them just as much the point is you live to fight another day.
When it became obvious to you and your corner that you couldnt fight then you should have retired from that fight i just dont see why you or your corner chose not too .

Hey Starnes, I'm a pretty big enthusiast of mma and see the good in every fighter. You should have just thrown in the towel. I'm not believing that Royce Gracie, with all the weight of the world and his family name at stake- was man enough to bow out in UFC 3 and also after 90 minutes with Saku.. but your Canadian Pride told you to run for 15 minutes instead. If your gameplan was basically dependent on your kicks and your foot was broken, then flipping Quarry the bird must have been plan B. Call me a dickhead or whatever but I've rewatched that fight and theres not much chance for redemption here. Get well soon and good luck in your next fight.

Kalib, I've always appreciated and respected when fighters show up on this site and help enlighten us. This time had to be harder than usual. A lot of fighters sort of disappear from the internet for a few weeks after a normal loss.

I'd picked you for the win.

i still think the same thing after reading this. i thought the fight was garbage and as i said at this time last week - i thought he must have been injured and if that was the case he should have stopped the fight, not continued to run away. in a lot of ways this explanation doesnt make much sense.

he is saying on one hand that he didnt want to engage and risk getting ko'd and possibly getting injured worse than he was already, then why didnt he just use the injury as the way out of the fight. he either loses after 15 minutes or loses after breaking his foot. if he took the injury out he would have just been doing what many have done before. i cant remember any other examples of handling an injury like this.

the rest of the article is nice to read, since the stories about making a stand against the ufc didnt make much sense, especially if he was trying to keep himself in fighting. dogging any promotion like that could result in not being marketable, so i am glad to hear that stuff was all bs.

i have never liked kalib, so i am not surprised that this explanation hasnt changed anything i think about him or what happened last week. i am interested to see where he signs.
