Kalib Starnes tests positive for marijuana, cocaine, heroin, and amphetamines

This really is pathetic.
Starnes makes a mockery of the sport and somehow still has all these supporters. I don't get it. He rips you off then hands you a bunch of BS to swallow and you all line up with grins on your faces like this piece of work is some sort of hero.
What sickens me about this whole thing is that Quarry overcame a huge obstacle in order to fight. He didn't duck and run. He trained his ass off hard for this fight and for what? So some chump can make the fight a spectacle?
Kalib, Quarry's camp contacted you before to fight him and he was turned down. This time it wasn't up to your camp whether the 2 of you fought or not. To me this sounds like you're afraid of Quarry.
At this point, you can't give me a good enough reason why the fight happened the way it did because you aren't man enough to fess up to the real reason. I could have admired you if you would have at least tried to fight. But not only did you not try to fight, you wasted Quarry's time and the time of millions of others.
There were prelim fights on that card that were much more exciting than this fight but they didn't get shown because this fight was believed to be a good match up. Haha. You were outmatched in strength, power, speed, dignity and decency.
I'm glad the UFC fired you. You're bad for the sport. Good luck finding someplace else that will pay you what the UFC paid you tp be worthless at your job. Taco Bell, maybe?

Anyway, to sum up this thread:

- Kalib posted a thread and put forward his position on why he fought...well not fought exactly...ummm....why he avoided engaging his opponent for 15 minutes.

- Some posters kissed his ass for gracing us with his presence and being able to type.

- Others continued to villify him for stinking up the joint. Personally I do not care, he knew he was overmatched and whether he should have just thrown in the towel after 1 and saved us all from rounds 2 and 3 can be debated ad nauseum, but if he did then we never would have had Nate's hilarious clowning at the end of round 3 to watch over and over again for our amusement.

- Another guy apparently threatened Ron Jhun with a baseball bat amidst allegations of post-editing and other shenanigans.

A real interview where both parties know their place would be good with Quarry. I saw him interviewed on Inside MMA. They offered him the opportunity to point out holes in his own story, but he declined. Very un-fulfilling interview. Bad Inside MMA.

Yea, the Inside MMA interview only had me asking more questions. I think most of those guys are more worried about irritating the fighters than getting the real story. I want the real story. Starnes has had a lot of opportunity here and elsewhere to address these concerns. He didn't.


I was just excited for the fight, it was two guys I liked and I didn't want to see either one lose. Instead I got a bar full of people asking me why I liked this guy...

Pretty decent post, fair IMO opinion, some parts were a bit harsh but you make a lot of sense.

People keep throwing the "these people don't train/aren't fighters" excuse but that doesn't mean squat. A lot of us are paying customers that expect to see fights, not someone avoiding the fight.

People get injured in fights all the time, Randy broke his wrist in the GG fight, kept on and smashed GG. Pellegrino got a hole kicked in his lip against Crane, kept on and won. Didn't he break his hand in the Stevenson fight too? What about BJ separating a rib and continuing?

And the excuse of him almost KOing you 3 times doesn't hold weight either, so b/c he was beating you and you decided that running away the entire time was ok?

As a fighter, I would think that the idea of being knocked unconscious or getting hurt would be pretty obvious and a large, large part of the game.

The simple fact is that you gave up, at least, thats one fan’s opinion of it all, and no explanation changes that. I just wish more people on this site had the balls to admit to that.

Everyone has off days. I can't say I enjoyed watching that particular fight, but I know that you usually have much better showings and hope you get healthy and return to form. To hell with fair weather fans dumping on you for having a bad night. I'm sure your next fight will be much better. Best of luck to you.

This explanation doesn't change my opinion very much. You were a main card fight and you had one of the most pathetic performances in UFC history. This isn't the first time your heart has been put up for debate, but it was the most eye opening. I hope you get things sorted out and can rebuild some of the respect you lost that night with your fight and with your derogatory comments after the fight.

Honestly, I think if you read Kalibs post he pretty much admits he got scared and gave up... at least that's how I interpret what he means when he says that Quarry "broke him".
