PRIDE has legendary gold medalists, military commanders and some of the most skilled hand to hand combatants on earth fighting, their fans are respectful and never boo. Now let's look at UFC presentation and programming. Hmm, seems they want the image of a truck drivin hick show with a bunch of beer drinkin red necks/hard rock cafe las vegas drunks with tattoos and slutty girls. Lol both have their faults, and both are at fault for this fight not happening, but let's not get anything twisted, Silva would own Chuck, and anybody who thinks different needs to look in Chuck's eyes at UFC 61 during their little stare down lol. Silva was ready to go right there.
P.S. This happened before Randy's win over Vitor the 2nd time i believe, silva appeared in the octagon with a PRIDE shirt, so I wouldnt let your head smoke over the whole "real deal marketing angle conspiracy theory"

there was no wat it could happen,silva fights in the open weight tournny then he is suppose to fight in the vegas show in october there was no way he was gonna fight in november.

Yes a business is a business. And you can make a ton of money off of the truck drivin hick beer drinkin' las vegas drunks with tatoos and slutty girls. Fight fans in America and especially Vegas are very blunt when it comes to watching fights. Add alchohol to the mix and the Boos start flyin'. Pride wants a piece of that pie and you should expect the same at their US events. Don't fault the UFC for the Las Vegas fight fans. Rogan and the fighters do their best to criticize the fans for booing. The UFC has just as many talented fighters as Pride. I don't know of any military commanders in the UFC but you have guys like Chuck Liddell who has an accounting degree and Rich Franklin who was a school teacher. Then you have great people involved with the sport like Big John McCarthy who is a Los Angeles Police Officer and Steve Mazzagatti who is a Fire fighter.
