Josh Koscheck = Tim Sylvia
Wow, I've never seen someone try so hard not to win a fight but still win. That SCREAMED Tim Sylvia, and it's the exact reason I didn't like Josh before this fight. You guys are acting like this is new for Kos? He's done the same thing ever since Tough. Not in every fight mind you, but that was basically Lay-n-Pray on the feet. You do JUST enough to win, never putting yourself in any danger and never actually trying to win. This was the worst fight I've ever seen in my entire life. This made Sylvia Vs. Arlovski 3 look like Bonnar Griffin 1. It was that boring and predictable. The one time Koscheck did take Diego down was with only a few seconds left in the round for points, and Diego took his back in that exchange so Kos never even remotely atempted to do that again. I like Diego, but I knew Kos was talented and was expecting a great fight even though I wanted Diego to win... but watching that fight made me lose a lot of the respect I had for Koscheck's skill as a fighter.
That being said I gotta say Diego should have shot on Kos, even though Kos is obviously a better wrestler, he should have realized what Koscheck was doing and closed the distance forcing Kos into a clinch, and either force it to the ground or pulled guard. As sickening as it was to watch, Kos did win that fight, nobody is denying that, but damn man... I hope this isn't a sign of things to come, if it is... Kos could be the Tim Sylvia of the 170lb division, and given his immense wrestling ability and better than a grappler striking ability... he could end up that way.
Against a great striker he takes them down and lay & Prays them
Against a better Submission guy he does what he did to Diego yesterday
Against a better wrestler... I don't think there are any
I hope he fights Matt Hughes next, I'd like to see how he fights against someone with close to his wrestling level.
As much as I hate to say it, Kos has the tools to boringly win pretty much any fight he's in.

I'm sorry but I totally disagree. Tim Sylvia is washed up, KOS is just beginning.

Kos will beat hughes the same way he beat diego. Hughes standup leaves a lot to be desired like diegos so i expect kos to have the same gameplan.
Anyways I said this in another thread I'll say it here too..
Yes diego lost, but it was a technicallity. That fight was a disgrace. Both fighters should be disappointed.
I am in no way a diego nuthugger, but all these people praising kos and saying rules are rules are only doing so cuz they hate diego.
If kos pulled the same shit against gsp you guys would be rioting.

It's sad but you're probably right. Kos is a better wrestler than Hughes, and probably a better striker, maybe not a better fighter, but sometimes all it takes is the right style matchup... Look at Diego for that.

I think Diego was more at fault for that fight being boring than was Kos...

I dont see why everyone thinks that was such a bad fight, just cause it wasnt a crazy street brawl like Leonard Garcia vs Huerta or Bonner vs Griffin doesnt make it "boring" if you want to see to guys punch eachother in the face for 15 minutes with no strategy, go watch boxing, your typical and have no appreciation for the sport, go stand in the cage and take one shot to the face, see how long you want to stand and trade like a mad man for.

You're an idjet. It had nothing to do with "Not being a brawl" and that was about as close to a boxing match as I've ever seen in MMA. One guy doing everything he can to just rack up a few points to squeak by with a win... soundsl like boxing to me. I have appreciation for the sport, I also have an understanding of exactly what went on. What went on wasn't a tactical MMA fight between 2 skilled opponents... what went on was one guy doing everything in his power to do nothing (Kos), and the other guy letting him do nothing and not forcing him to do something (Diego). You are the one with no appreciation for MMA, if you had any you'd be as pissed as the rest of us for that boring, uneventful jabfest.
