Fitch is the one lying now, trying to save face in order to explaining giving in.
Again, he's on record as having a problem with the contract, not just 'Dana's attitude'.
He should've signed it right away, he's lucky he got his job back.

Yes he has said that he wanted to negotiate - but he has also stressed from the very first interview that the terms of the contract itself were never that big of a deal. Its really a matter of who you believe - so you'll have to excuse me for picking the guy that seems humble and respectful over the loudmouthed douchebag.

Even if he signed away his exclusive rights forever (if that is still a condition in his merchandising agreement), I bet you Lorenzo must've done something to grease the wheels with the AKA guys, since this affected more than just one person: It affected an entire camp and cast a negative light on the suits/org, both by the public as well as other contracted fighters, many of whom are probably like Fitch in their views on the merch agreement.

dana is the face, but he's not always in the loop with what goes on with zuffa/ufc. the bros call all the important shots and inform dana after the decision has be made. sakakibara said that during the sales of pride he never dealt with dana white a single time. all the negotiations were with the fertittas and their lawyers directly. dana was kept informed on need to know basis.

Yeah - the crux of the matter is that Lorenzo had to put out the olive branch and show some respect, which clearly undermines Danas "fuck with me and your fucked" approach.
And I seriously doubt that Dana is gonna play into this for the sake of some good cop/bad cop routine.

He didn't sign for a lifetime, but just for one game!!!
A BIG difference

Fitch had his promotional contract terminated on Wednesday after refusing to sign an agreement that would give the UFC lifetime rights to his likeness for videogames. As part of his deal to return, Fitch has signed the same contract for the UFC to use his likeness for the THQ-developed "UFC 2009 Undisputed" video game slated for release Spring 2009.

Where you got that from?
I thought right away that there had to be some other contracts out there for the better (in that case more marketable) fighters. I don't think they even approched guys like Chuck and others, who already have kinda celebrity status thus lucrative marketing options outside the ufc, with the contract they gave Fitch and others.
