Icon2 John MCcain wants mma banned

what do all of you think about how Senator John MCcain wants mma to be banned, and how he was trying to ban the ufc? MCcain is a huge boxing fan, and when he saw the ufc he was horrified! the thing is so many people in boxing have died!! John MCcain will most likely run for president in 2008, and i surely will not be going for him

Umm Sen. McCain wanted to ban the original incarnation of the UFC because it was unsactioned, uncontrolled, and put fighters in danger. McCain currently has no problem with the UFC since it has a real set of rules and is sanctioned by the same committee that sanctions boxing.

Sen. McCain will likely be the Republican candidate for president; however, he is going to be because he appeals to both sides of the spectrum due to his very moderate political stances in most things.

Get you facts straight before you post nonsense about people, whether they are a fighter or not, its still common courtesy to post facts rather than make up bullshit or post 7 year old opinions that are completely out of context.

Oh...and why on earth would your vote for president of the united states be determined on whether or not he agreed with mma. seriously, there are far more important matters. I love mma more than most things, and spend a great deal of time on sherdog and other sites and watching fights etc. but i would think someones stance on the war, foreign and domestic affairs, taxes, social progams etc should be why you want someone as president.

I don't think he will be the nominie unless the republicans don't think they can win.
If so they might throw him to the wolves as a sacrificial lamb.

Social programs? Tax and spend tax and spend, right? Big government bias always comes through.

McCain is polling at 4 percent among Republicans right now, well back of Bill Frist. Republicans are too stupid to nominate someone good.

I am stating his stance on those for or against should be why you vote for him, not mma.

I am not going to disucss politics on here cause its an mma forum. I would however, vote for McCain btw who I think will be the next president especially if Hilary gets nominated by the Dems.

So some you guys will vote for Hillary over McCain ?? And your big issue is MMA ... that's almost comical. Although, McCain originally went to far, normally that's what it takes to get something done in politics, an extreme view, then negotiations take place and a compromise is met somewhere in the middle. All in all ... the changes that were made with regards to the regulations/commissions has been VERY good for the sport IMO....
