One event doesn't come off well, and the haters are all yelling "the sky is falling!" Reality? Same amount of people OR more (chuck is fighting) will buy the next PPV. The UFC gave us TWO free events at the end of june, one of which i'd classify as BRILLIANT (TUF finale.) I'm willing to give them a pass on 61.

Everyone was disappointed by 61, but only jackasses were disappointed by 60. Every single fight, save the main event, turned out great.

Sherdog encompasses about 1 percent of the UFC fan base. (judging by their rumored PPV numbers and Sherdog's membership numbers). While this discounts people who don't register, it also discounts the fact that probably 3-5 people watch every PPV, so that number is low as well.

Sherdoggers, in a broad generalization, are the WORST fans of MMA. Whether it's Pride or UFC, they constantly talk about stealing events and constantly promote that idea. They also constantly bitch about the price of tickets while casual fans are shelling out the money.

If the UFC lost every single Sherdog bought PPV, that would be a few thousand...MAYBE.

I disagree because from a business point of view, the UFC must do something really stupid before they deystroy themselves... not by loosing one fight.

what alot of people aren'thinking about is this: the casual UFC fan just wants to see somebody get knocked out, they don't have THAT MUCH vested interest in Chuck and they really not worried about the competion between UFC and Pride. So if they see Chuck get KO'd by Wandi, they'll be psyched that they saw a crazy knockout and they will be more likely to watch UFC again.
THe UFC/pride rivalry only matters to us hardcore fans, but we're still gonna watch both UFC and Pride anyway no matter what.

I think that Pride and Mr. Sakibara are very smart people, and they have waited a long time and for the right time to enter the US market. They waited and let the UFC do the dirty work until MMA is more popular and accepted and than jumped over to America. Pride knows what they are doing.

Great post. People that think the UFC is in trouble have an underlying agenda; they are called Pride Nutthuggers.

I would say there is abit of truth in that comment except that I wouldn't say generally Sherdoggers are the WORST as much as some of the most vocal people are EXTREMELY negative people that can never be pleased....

I agree that this is an awesome time for MMA, one that has never been matched before and there doesn't appear to be an end in sight. PRIDE's arrival in the US and the UFC's brilliant business tactics are going to make for the best year yet. Hopefully the card in November will set the pace for dream matchups to come, through in K-1's seeming interest in bringing HEROES stateside and the WFA and IFL......it makes the mind tingle. Esp. for those of us that remember the days when this sport seemed all but dead here.

Just sitback and enjoy the ride.....
