being able to take punishment is just another fighting atribute, your argument is retarted. having a great chin is definatly a reason to be considered great, shows his warrior spirit. one of the biggest reasons nog is so loved in the sport. hes a hero for taking a beating a coming back for more, pulling out the win after taking punishemnt

Yea, that's why I said sorry.. I just feel there has to be a little more "completeness" these in order to be GOAT. You get my point at all? Take away the great chin and Nog would have lost most his fights. Take away Mirkos standup and he'd lose most his fights. BUT, take away one of Fedors abilities, and he'd probably still be able to pull off quite a few wins.

Anyway, i know it's a semi-retarded argument, but that's how I feel. To be the best fighter ever, I'd require a little more offensive abilities, but that's just me.

Fedor may be the most talented fighter to ever compete but he needs to prove that this year fighting at least two top contenders and beating them in convincing fashion .

I think the reason for fighting more top 10ers than Fedor is because he had to work harder to get to the belt. Fedor was top dog therefor he was waiting for someone to work their way up to the top. Hence we saw Nog face the likes of Werdum, Sergei and Barnett because ALL of them were in the running for Fedor's #1 spot. If Fedor was ranked 2nd or 3rd at the time, he would inevitably have to fight the likes of Barnett, Werdum and Sergei in his road to the top.

All I saw in that fight was Nog using Barnett's face as a speed bag and outwrestling him in almost every clinch situation. On the ground, if it wasn't for Barnett's guillotine attempt, Id say Nog completely outworked him.

QFT.

Intangibles such as cardio, heart and chin is what sets appart fighters like Fedor and Nog from fighters liek Gabriel Gonzaga. You can have the best physical tools in the world, but there are certian intangibles you must possess to be champ.

Without Fedor
Nog's Record:
30-2-0
Losses:
Split decision agains Barnett (but already cleared)
Split decision agains Hendo (But already cleared)

So yeah, he would be the best MMA fighter ever.

The only thing Big Nog has going against him tonight is being a former Pride fighter, therefor subject to the so called "Pride curse".

There's not much INTELLIGENT conversation about why some former Pride fighters have faltered in other orgs, while others do well.

Nog certainly doesn't seem "roided", but who knows? If there is any common denominator of Pride fighters who do poorly outside of Pride is that they are less aggressive, (Cro-cop) out of shape(Shogun and maybe Gomi) and just not quite the same. Which could be caused but performance drugs.

Big Tim is no slouch. He avenged Arlovski, and has kicked everyones ass except Randy and Mir. The Mir loss was kind of a fluke, and Randy is, well Randy.

Big Tim loves that belt, and if the "Pride Nog" shows up, its going to be a war. Nog won't let Tim jab his way to a 5 round JD.
