If Fedor never existed, Big Nog...

would be considered the Greatest Fighter to Ever Live.

His record would be a very impressive 30-2 with his only 2 losses being avenged in very convincing fashion. His loss to Hendo IMO was complete bullshit and he proved that to be true when he armbarred Hendo in the rematch. Barnett's win over Big Nog was in a 2 round GP fight and Big Nog completely out struck, out wrestled and out grappled Barnett in their rematch.

30-2 record(never been finished despite his losses) w/ no unavenged losses and wins over Cro Cop, Werdum, Sergei, Barnett, Ricco,Herring 3x, Schilt, Sapp, Coleman, Enson, Hendo, Goodridge and Big Tim if he wins tonight.

"If" Fedor never existed and Big Nog gets a win over Tim tonight, could anyone in their right mind make the argument that Big Nog isn't the greatest fighter ever? I dont think so but lets see how people respond. What do you think?

Big Nog still has a shot at being considered the GOAT. He and Fedor should have at least five years of fighting left in them, who knows what might go down between now and the time they retire.

I thought both of the Barnett fights were very close and could have been scored either way.

yeah Nog is like Fedor if there was no Fedor

if he wins here, i still believe Nog will hunt Fedor down someday for one more fight

which he may lose horribly, but i still believe he is the only one who can beat fedor (non-fluke style)

that's why i've never understood him being ranked anything below #2, aside from the 3 months between barnett fights.

and people have been talking about him being on the decline since long before the herring kick. the guy had two of his weaker performances back-to-back with fedor and ricco and everybody was labeling him as "washed up," but then he literally came back strong against crocop.

everybody thought he was figured out on the ground, and he makes it to the semifinals of the hwgp with the anaconda.

sergei was a big dark horse in the tourney looking very dangerous on his feet and the ground and was undefeated. nog went toe-to-toe with sergei for a good portion of the fight and won a good decision.

his standup has also won him fights against barnett, werdum, and herring lately.

he's the best. well, number 2

I don't know what fight you watched but his win over Barnett wasn't in "very convincing fashion" as far as I'm concerned. I thought he won, but it wasn't that one-sided.

yeah, both fights were extremely close, but the second was more decisive, even with that guillotine in the third round that makes you think twice. the first was a tighter fight imo

Problem is actually Nog faced MUCH DEEPER COMPETITION than Fedor.

If he win tonight ... he will undoubtabely be the GOAT based on accomplishment ...

Fedor may be the most talented fighter to ever compete but he needs to prove that this year fighting at least two top contenders and beating them in convincing fashion .

I honestly couldn't put anyone like Nog as the best FIGHTER ever to live. The reason: He wins because he can't be knocked out.. He's taken so many beatings, and because of some godgiven ability to take insane amount of punishment he has still been able to win.

That to me is not the characteristics of the greatest fighter to ever live. He's a beast at surviving and on the ground, but I'd need a little more ability not to get beat up in order to award him that title.

Sorry I guess!
