If Couture gets a title shot then the belt doesn't mean anything
Dana White says that Couture is in the LHW title picture. The Media has taken this and is running with it. Pure Insanity.
If Mark Coleman would have beaten Randy Couture would have Coleman gotten a title shot? No way. Not a chance.
Please resist the urge to justify this BS title shot with the robotic knee jerk, Dana White sack swinging response of... "its a good business move." You douchebags aren't real fans if you are a bigger fan of good business moves than seeing the best fight the best.
It isn't like the UFC would lose money by having Machida/Shogun fight Rampage, Lil Nog, or Rashad Evans.They will just make slightly more money by parading out Randy Couture for an undeserved title shot instead of someone who actually deserves it.
UFC is highly profitable. They were on 60 minutes claiming that the company is worth over a billion. They won't go away if you do the disloyal act of behaving like a real consumer and complaining about their product. They still want your money so it is ok to criticize. Nothing will happen I promise.
And I mean that, Dana White will read a complaint and do nothing and follow that inactivity up with "More fights than EVER! the fans are the winners!" and the fans will follow with "oh yeah, we are! thanks Dana for reinforcing my clarity! MORE Kimbo please!"
Randy Couture vs. Machida/Shogun?

But Dana said we'll first see Shogun vs Machida. Since UFC champs only defend their title once or twice per year, this means that Couture wouldn't fight until 2011. They won't sideline Couture for a year (again) so I guess he has to fight someone. This someone will probably not be anywhere near the top, but it's better than the instant titleshots Couture is used to get.

You know, a lot of people (including me) would like to see Couture against Machida or Shogun.
Who should it be instead of him?
Evans? No, he had a lacklustre win over Thiago Silva, and you tend to have 2 fights minimum before a rematch
Rampage? Fighting Evans in the summer
Lil Nog? Maybe, but not just yet.
Thiago Silva? Just lost
Jon Jones? See above
Griffin? No thanks
Right now, at this point in his career, it makes sense for Randy Couture to get the next title shot.
