I am a die hard Big Nog fan, and think he will beat Tim at UFC 81. But just for the sake of argument he does NOT beat TIM, and Fedor does not fight a top ten opponent in the next few months, would you consider Tim to be the number 1 heavyweight in the world? I don't like Tim all that much as a fighter, but I would have a hard time arguing that he wasn't number one if he beats Nog. Thoughts?

Naw, Couture just beat his ass in every way possible not even a year ago and hasn't lost since. Fedor beat Nogueira twice......

If anything it cements Couture's place as the 2nd best in the world.

#1 in the UFC, yes, #1 in the rankings, fuck no. But I guess he'd probably be third. Fedor, Couture, Tim.

But tims gonna get submitted anyway so it doesn't matter

Well, I think he may just beat Noguiera. Here's the trouble. This Noguiera isn't the Noguiera of 3-4 years ago. He's half blind, and that's just the visible trouble. He's been is some fucking wars. And he's usually on the recieving end of a severe beating until he catches an arm or neck. Noguiera is a true legend in this sport, but he's a very battle torn legend. Tim's size, jab, and takedown defense will enable him to cruise hios way to victory. And Nog goes down as just another "PRIDE guy that got beat up" in the eyes of the mainstream fan.

If Big Tim beat Nog worse than Fedor did, the my rankings would look like this:

1. Couture
2. Tim
3. Fedor
4. Nog
5. Barnett
6. Arlovski
7. Werdum
8. Gonzaga
9. Kongo
10. CroCop

If Tim manages to get a boring decision win that really didn't prove much, then my rankings would look like this:

1. Couture
2. Fedor
3. Tim
4-10 same as above.

If Nog wins, I'd have the rankings like this:

1. Fedor
2. Nog
3. Barnett
4. Couture
5. Tim
6. Arlovski
7. Werdum
8. Gonzaga
9. Kongo
10. CroCop
